I am newly pregnant and looking to help my mother in law find a shower venue. I am hoping to hear of where youve been to a shower or where yours was held. Thanks!

Hi C.,
You might want to post again with where you are from. I would love to help you but I am from CT & that would be too far. Good luck.

In my personal opinion, baby showers are nicest when just held at someone's home. I have both hosted and been given a shower at homes and it is much more personal, relaxed and enjoyable (never mind more economical).

I don't know where you are located, but I have used Veasey Memorial Park in Groveland, Ma. It is a beautiful estate, very reasonably priced, and they have several rooms and kitchens to use. We have held several baby and bridal showers there, we love it!

Hi C.,
Spinelli's on Rte.1 in Lynnfield is a really nice place. I assume it is pretty pricey, but it is a great location for a shower with a lot of guests. Also, a very different idea is an evening shower. You could do it at a restaurant and it's different from the traditional brunch. Congrats!

Congrats on your pregnancy! =) I had my baby shower (last august) at The Thompson Country Club in North Reading. (on the border of Middleton) I was extremely happy with it!! Three years ago I threw a baby shower for my friend at the Colonial Sheraton in Lynnfield and that was great too! Another suggestion is the Tewksbury Country Club - my cousin had her shower there and it was beautiful! Best of luck with everything!! =)

it depends on where you are, how much you want to spend and how much work you want to do.. restaurants that do functions are the easiest, since you don't have to do very much.. social clubs, (ICC, K of C etc) are cheaper if you know members, but require a lot of work on site. Homes are great, but again, lots of work, but you can have it catered.. if you want more info, let me know - I love to plan parties!!!

Best baby shower I held was at my sister-in-law's house for her. None of the gifts had to move they were where they belonged. It was still a surprise - big help from my brother to take her out in the am. perfectos (Tewksbury or Andover) does a great job for the food,or the pushcart in Tewksbury. Hope it helps!

I've always liked showers in the home of a relative. It feels more like welcoming the new mom into a family of women, less like a wedding or gift-grabbing event. Also, the guest can do things like a craft - either fabric paint squares for a baby quilt - or (my favorite) get packages of oneies up to 18 months and have guests paint a T shirt for the baby. for the next year and a half you remember the joy and love that surrounded you during the shower.

And it REALLY helps if you get any large gifts. You can leave them at the relatives house until the next day. Easier than trying to get all the gifts from a restaurant.

The craziest shower I experienced was my own - my son showed up 3 months early and the shower was held AFTER he was born. He was still in the NICU on oxygen, feeding tubes, etc - but a few guests asked why he wasn't there!

Hi there C.,
Congrats! Looks like you have a good amount of responses. You might have already figured this out, but just in case - I was pregnant w/twins and my only advice would be to have the shower a month earlier than most showers since you may deliver early or might be too uncomfortable too late in the pregnancy. I was due in Mid January and my shower was in November. Good luck and enjoy your pregnancy!

We had mine at Alpine grove in Hollis NH. It was nice because we had some children so they could run around, while you enjoy your day.
PS just a bit of FYI I found when i regestered for a car seat (the no the infant seat). Make sure it will fit rear facing in your car. The one i got for my baby shower did not so i had to go buy another one at Baby R Us. I loved the Britex Marathon and it was the only one that did work in my car.

Congrads, we are due for number 2 on Mov 7

I had my baby shower at the melting pot and it was wonderful. All we pretty much had to do was show up! The food was wonderful and everyone talked about what a great time they had!

Congrats!
