Most pediatricians have a 24 hour nurse line for questions like this, have you called them?
Hi, my baby has had cough/colds for 6days now. When we went for check up on his 3rd day of cough doctor said his breath sounds. Now his cough is not geting any better. I also noticed his snot was a yellowish color. Is this a sign he is improving or worsening?
Thank you for all your responses. I took him to the doctor already and seems like its a normal cough nothing too serious. Just hydrate and liquids for now. Humidifier was recommended too.

You don't say how old your baby is,and this is your first post, so we don't know from prior questions. You went to the doctor, which is good. Don't be afraid to call back and discuss what changes you are seeing. That's what the pediatrician is there for. If you don't feel comfortable calling back, then you either need to get to the point where you can advocate for your child or you need a more open and responsive pediatrician. While we moms are happy to give advice in many situations, this is one where the doctor who knows and has seen your child already is your best bet. Do ask about humidifiers, something to thin out the mucus, and whether someone needs to listen again to the cough. Infant and toddler illnesses are tough to get through - do ask for support.
Take him back to the doctor.
Yellow or tan snot is just what it looks like when it thickens.
Your child needs it thinned out so he can cough it out more easily.
Doctor has probably already told you to use a humidifier and have him drink plenty of water.
A steamy bathroom during bath time is a good idea too.
Go see if the doctor wants to put your child on abuterol to thin the mucus.
Also be on the lookout for croup.
I hope he feels better soon.
Additional:
I forgot about using a bulb syringe (snot sucker).
After a bath try using it to clear his nose a bit.
He won't like it while you're doing it but he'll breathe easier for awhile after you finish.
Keep taking him back to doctor till cold is gone.
It's easy for this to turn into pneumonia.
Our son had it at 14 months and it was scary to get him through it.
I'm not sure what "said his breath sounds" means - it's like you didn't finish your sentence, sounds like what?
I was told if snot was green it was a problem (was for us - meant infection or sinusitis). That's a whole other thing, and doesn't sound like what your child has. It's very distinguishable. My older kid had it.
Coughs can really linger. Sometimes my kids had coughs that went on and on for over 2 weeks. If it's at night, it can be from post nasal drip (where snot tickles the back of their throats when they lay horizontal) and can keep them (and you) up at night. It's hard to get it to dry up and you should always check what to give a child (depending on age) with the doctor. Don't give anything unless prescribed.
Snot being a yellowish color - I don't know. I'd call the doctor's office and talk to the nurse. They may advise you to come in.
Colds (and coughs) run their course. Typically, unless there are signs that it is worsening - like fever, or hard to breathe, or raspy sounds, etc. they just kind of go on for a while but kids should be getting better overall. If kid is lethargic .. and not participating and this goes on for a while .. that's not a good sign. Talk to the nurse and get a list of what signs to look for.
Every parent needs to know these signs. Parents need to know to ask this question before they leave the doctor's office - say "How do I know if we need to come back in?". Call and ask this - and ask about the snot.
Hope he feels better soon :)
