It took me close to a year to come close to my old weight ... but remember, it is just a number, it is all about how you feel that counts!
Hello. I was wondering how long it took for anyone to lose their baby weight? I am trying to get a realistic idea of what is normal. I gained 48 pounds with baby and am having a hard time losing the last 15. Thanks!

Sounds like me! I gained 50 lbs. Still have 20 more to go to get back to my pre-prego weight. I have been eating proerly (Weight Watchers- diligently) and working out. It turns out my thyroid is not working properly which could be a contributing factor. I was so happy to find out that there really was a reason (or partial reason), why I have been so tired and no matter what I do - no weight loss! You might consider having it checked.

Dont be too hard on yourself. Our babies like a lttle padding to cuddle up to. I was really stressed about my tummy until it became my daughters "lovey" after i quit breastfeeding. She couldn't sleep for naps for along time with out laying on or atleast touching that nice soft pillow. :) I did notice though that I was feeding her a great healthy diet everyday, but was not taking the same care with my diet. Making a change there helped with a few of the lingering pounds. Good luck and enjoy your reason for those pounds!

it took 9 months for your body to change with baby....give it 9 months to a year to change back! and its still entirely possible that your body may not go back to what it was before....just eat right and exercise, and hopefully you'll see the results you want. :)
I gained about 46 pounds with my daughter. I took me a little over a year to lose all the baby weight. My sister got married 10 months after I had her and then I still had about 8 pounds left to go. To help get ready for the wedding we ran stairs. I live in Brunswick and the Glynn County Stadium is open all year from about 7:30 until 4:30 (M-F). Let me tell you my thighs looked GOOD! I didn't loose that much weight but I also ate like a little piggy! A gym instructer said it is 80% what you eat and 20% exersize.
I gained 100lbs...yes, thats one hundred!!! Granted, I had twins, but still... 100lbs My munchkins will be 6 months tomorrow and so far I've lost just over 60lbs (most of which came off in the first couple of months). I started working out 4-5 times a week right after new year's and havent lost any lbs since, but can definitely tell the difference size-wise. I lost so much muscle when I was preggo (wasnt on bed rest but sat around most of the time b/c it was soooo hard to get around the last couple months). I know I've lost fat and have gained muscle, but its still really frustrating that the weight isnt coming off faster. Oh, and I'm exclusively breastfeeding both babies, but that hasnt helped much (I was told that that would take all the weight off in no time... apparently, not so much).
Anyway, keep at it J., you'll get to your goal!
I did not gain very much weight with my son (about 17 pounds), but man, did my figure change! It realistically took almost a year to be truly comfortable with my body again, and by the time he was 18 months old, I actually lost more than just the baby weight. I am now smaller than I have been for several years and very happy with my body. The best advice I can give is to focus on your diet. I really watched the amount of starchy-carbs I ate every day and that seemed to really help with those last 15 pounds. I also try to do some sort of cardio at least 3-5 times a week. Now that I am in maintenance mode, I do less.
Also, I hate to admit it, but I did use NV diet pills (Carmen Electra's deal) at one point just to jump start my weightloss. I hit a wall and needed some reassurance that something would work. I never even finished the bottle, but it worked for me...at least mentally! :)
HTH...good luck!
the last few lbs are always the hardest, and how quickly you loose it depends a lot on what you do. Meaning are you stilll breast feeding, or did you at all, are you excercising or at least being active everyday? Are you eating healthy or just grabbing snacks when you can. You also have to remember that the elasticity of your skin takes a while to go back, and although its not much you might want to excuse a couple lbs due to the muscle you have most likely gained from carrying your daughter around (muscle always weighsmore than fat. I am a sahmof a 4 year old girl and a 6 1/2 month old boy.... I gained 60 lbs during this last pregnancy (big difference from the 32 I gined with my first) and I still have 8 lbs to loose, so don't feel bad, the last few lbs always hang on for dear life lol! hope this helped....
Consider yourself lucky! I am having trouble losing the last 30 lbs. I have lost 50 so far. Granted, that I had these 30 lbs were with me before I got pregnant.
But really you are doing great! I did not even starting losing weight until my youngest stopped breast-feeding when was around nine months old. "They" say that the last couple of lbs. are always the hardest to lose. As long as you continue doing what you did to lose the first 33 lbs eventually the weight will come off. At least that is what I am hoping for. I am also at a plateau and I was thinking of trying some supplements. I have not had the time to go in and talk to GNC about what they recommend that I try. If you do go this route and find something that works for you let me know. I will do the same. Just be sure that if you are still breast-feeding you do not take any supplements without checking with your doctors first.
Good luck!
Your doing better than I am, My son is one and I still weigh just as much as the day he was born. Luckily it's not to bad because I had a healthy preg. I do know from other friends experience that it takes a while to get back to your "pre" size, but doing a daily routine helps alot, and of course watching your diet. Let me know if you find out the trick cause I would really like to be skinny again too. lol
J.,
I gained 25 lbs with my babies and lost all but 10 lbs. The problem was that I gain the weight I lost back during nursing and not eating great and I just could not control my cravings and food choices. I started taking some great nutrition products and lost 35 lbs and went from a size 12/14 to a size 4/6 and have kept it off for 2 years. I have adopted a great eating plan and exercising 6 days a week, but I started with one thing at a time so I did not get overwhelmed. I am starting a program in the Wesley Chapel area called Commit2fit. It is for 8 weeks and we meet in my home. If you have interest in a Nutrition and Health program that I am starting let me know and I can send you info. I just love sharing the things I have learned to help other women. Good Luck!
I gained 49 with my first daughter and 42 with my second. It took 6-8 months to lose the baby weight and then another 3-4 to lose the extra 15 I was carrying before becoming pregnant! : ) I found an online nutrition and exercise program that really helped with the last few pounds. I found it really helped to have a "program" to follow which I could do at home. It kept me motivated and on track. The website was: www.ishape.com . You can choose to use one or both of their fitness tools. Be consistent with exercise and good nutrition. Take time to nurture yourself. It is completely reasonable to take a year to get back to your former size. Good luck!
J.,
I have had 5 babies and with each one I put on a little weight that never came off and by the time I had my fifth child I weighed 245. I had to wait 6 month to do anything after my 5th was born and after that I kept saying Monday i will start a diet.Well after looking at Christmas photos I decided that 2007 was goin to be the year that I lose the weight. I changed my diet with the help of the biggest loser club. You eat 6 small meals a day which really revs up your metabolism. It realy deals with portion control. Then I started working out, and let's face it you can not lose weight and keep it off without excercise. I do cardio 5 days a week, strentgh training 3 times a week, because the more lean muscle you have the more calories you burn when you are resting. I have since added an hour of YOGA once a week. I have lost 30 pounds since the new year which is a healthy rate to lose weight, 2-3 ponds a week!! If you have any questions let me know. Just be patient and it will happen!!
No exercise and no drugs. Just used mummy magic weight loss tea and got rid of about 35 lbs.
