Hi Ladies!
I just turned the BIG 3-0 and gave birth to my third child almost six months ago. I've been watching what I'm eating and do high impact aerobics 3-4 times a week, but the weight just won't budge! Has anyone taken any supplements that have actually worked?

What can I do next?

I just had my second 1 month after turning 30! I am having a little harder loosing the weight after this one but I have really kicked my workout into gear. I bike to work instead of drive, walk seveeral nights a week and I just started to kayak. I cant say I do traditional workouts because I dont have time for that, so I incorporate it into my daily routene. Good Luck

Hey J.,

I turned 30 in September and had my 3rd in October. Like you, I am having a hard time losing this weight. On top of it all, this pregnancy I wasn't allowed to exercise, and had bed rest for the last 3 months, so I came out of it very "blubbery" and weighing so much more than I had with either of my two older kids. I am absolutely what is considered having the "pear" shape now, and it's not an easy shape to handle being, when I feel that I look so mis-proportioned. It's crazy too, because my eating doesn't seem to help matters either. The only time I see a difference is when I eat small portions, 5 times a day, rather than 3 sit-down meals...but with these 3 needy-always-active-fighting-with-each-other-get-into-everyting-kids, I can't seem to keep to the schedule or even be able to eat before 8pm sometimes. You'd think that with all of these active kids, I'd lose weight no problem, but not so. My body is in refusal mode, and has decided to lean out my fore arms and legs, but keep my face and belly pretty plump.

I've just finally settled myslef with waiting for my youngest to not be so dependent, and my oldest to begin school, before I will actually have some sort of time to devote to exercise and eating properly. In the meantime, I exercise when I have a chance, even if I know that it will only be 10 min, but I make sure that I exercise hard, and just keep it moving for the entire 10 minutes at a fast pace, no matter what I'm doing...squats, lunges, pushups, leg lifts, etc... My current goal is to not gain any more weight, until I can devote more time to losing it. :o)

Good luck!

Hi J.. I am in the fitness and nutrition field, and I can tell you that if a supplement actually worked, no one would have a weight problem!

Your exercise and diet routine must just need a tweak. Write down what you are eating and review it after a week - some things might surprise you.

Working out HARD 5 times a week for 30 minutes will also ramp up your metabolism. Make sure you are doing strength training, not just aerobics. Cardio burns calories, but does not change the shape of your body. Put it this way - if you are an apple shape, cardio will make you a smaller apple.
Strength training will change your shape, and make you super toned.

The best way to do this effectively is to do one exercise right after another for 30 min, resting as little as possible between sets.
Don't worry - using your own body weight is fine. No need to get fancy weights.

Check out my web-site: www.trimfitness.net

I have an e-book with lots of fitness and nutrition tips.

Good luck!

Hi there,

My third child is 11 months now, but I have to tell you I'm still working hard to lose the baby weight- its been much more difficult losing it with my third than my other two. One thing that hindered it (for me) is breast-feeding- I actually couldn't lose a pound while I was breast feeding. I had to just wait until my son and I decided we were done with that. Then I joined weight watchers, though just doing a journal of the diet helps- that actually started the process in the right direction and its been easier since I started doing that. You dont realize how much grazing you do until you start writing everything down.
Making sure you're drinking enough water, eating breakfast, and getting enough sleep (difficult with a little one I know) all help too. I think for some people it just takes time for your metabolism to kick in after you give birth. It will happen though, dont worry!
Good luck,
E.
ps I know the breast feeding thing is a sensitive subject for many, I'm just relating my personal experience with it- its been hard on my body but I've never regretted doing it as long as I could with all my kids.
