My 2 year old son pushed his chair back from the table and fell straight back. He his the back of his head but then got a nose bleed. Should i be concerned, be at no time was his nose hit?
Take him to the Doctor for a professional appraisal.
Sometimes, "bumps" do not appear externally, but internally and you can't see it.
Or, take him to the ER....

If you are asking, you must have some concerns. If you are concerned, contact his pediatrician. Better safe than sorry, right? I would rather have the doctor say he was fine, than to kick myself later for not listening to that nagging feeling in my gut.
It could very well just be a standard nose bleed but there is no real way to know enough to just forget about it. I'm not even sure what the doctors would do beyond just seeing if there are any signs of a concussion (dilated eyes) and then observing how he feels for the next many days: being careful to look for nausea, lethargy or excessive crying. But it sounds scary enough that seeing your doctor is probably a good idea.
That being said, one of the only times I let my son cry for 5 minutes I came back in to find his mouth full of blood. Now, one would think that that is a no brainer emergency room visit, but as soon as I wiped away the blood there was no more and after consulting with my doctor it turned out to just be a burst blood blister from teething. So I know how it feels to know that it sounds crazy not to rush to the ER but see and know in your gut that they are fine.
Just really observe him carefully if you dont' go, and keep it up diligently for longer than you might remember to. That's my advice and I'm pretty sure all a doctor would do unless you really felt a cat scan was warranted.
Is his nose bleeding still? Any bumps?? Make sure he doesnt fall asleep for a good couple of hours.. If he looks that something bothers him I suggest you take him to the doctor.
Take him to your pediatrician. It may be a coincidence, but it never hurts to be careful. Call your doctor today, now, and see what he/she says.

I also would suggest calling the nurses hotline at your favorite hospital, explain to them what happened, and find out if this is something you should be in the ER for, or should self treat at home.
Anytime your child hits his head hard enough to hear it I would be cautions. The nose bleed is definitely weird and for me would be a warning sign that it was a pretty hard hit. Watch his eyes, look for pupils that are not dilated and responsive to light changes, look for him being lethargic and you need to keep him up for the next few hours.
If you let him fall asleep it could mean he actually passed out from a swelling of the brain. I will look like he is sleeping but he could die.
As simple as that.
If he does fall asleep soon after the injury, you need to wake him every half an hour to check his vitals.....
He should really be under professional care. I would not mess around with my child's life.

I would definately call the Doctor and see what they suggest.
Take him to the Dr. Head injuries are very unpredictable. I've had 3 concussions one of which caused amnesia. I'm okay. My husband was in a minor car accident and his cranial MRI shows a spot of some sort. Better to be safe than sorry.
the impact something like wiplash but to a smaller degree... get him checked out... just in case.
take him to the doc. When a head gets bumped and there is any kind of discharge for the nose or ears it is important to get evaluated. From what I know blood is better than clear liquid but get it looked at for sure. Call your ped and see if they will check him or if he needs to go to urgent care. If there is any clearish liquid from his nose or ears rush to the ER.

Absolutely honey! Take him to a doctor TODAY. My dad's a Dr. and I'm an RN. It could be a head injury inside, very serious/dangerous, or nothing to be concerned about. But the bloody nose is a sign of injury.

You need to take him to the ER immediately. I don't think anyone noticed that you said he did not hit his nose but the back of the head. Hope all is well.

If you have any concerns whatsoever, you should take your son in to see his doctor. My daughter fell off our bed at around 9 months. Even though I knew she was okay, I took her into the doctor for peace of mind. Thankfully, everything was fine, but sometimes it's worth the co payment so that you can sleep easier at night. Yes, keep a close eye on him if he starts vomiting take him in imediately.
