I would think that letting her hair grow long would be best for curly hair, that way she can pull it back in a pony tail if it's really crazy and that always looks cute on girls.

I have super curly hair and only in the past few years have I learned how to tame it. I shower every day and when i get out of the shower, i comb my hair straight (comb, not a brush -- brush just adds to the frizz). One important thing is to not towel dry (again, makes frizz), so i just wrap my hair in a towel briefly and just pat it with a towel. Then when it's still super wet, i run the comb through and use one of two products that don't damage hair:
1. Frizz ease clearly defined style holding gel
2. Frizz ease Dream curls (it's a spray)

For the gel, i just put a tiny amount on my hands and rub them together and put it through my hair with my fingers. For the spray, i just simply spray. Then, I don't touch my hair again. I don't scrunch it (makes it frizzy) or try anything fancy -- i just let nature make it curly!

For hair like this, it's best to wash it only maybe 2-3 times a week. I would use a good cleansing shampoo since washes won't be everyday. Then I would follow up with a deep conditioner. After the shower, towel dry well and add in Sebastion's potion 9. It is the best product I have found for hair like this. Smooth it in, really work it in and use a wide tooth comb to comb through. Then, with your hand, form the curls, twirl large sections around your fingers and lightly dry with the curl vent attachment on the dryer. It will really help keep the curls moisturized and beautiful.

Also, use a stylist that knows how to cut curly hair!

Wash it only once or twice a week with a shamoo for curly hair and use a moisterizing conditioner. Use a wide tooth comb to comb in the conditioner and leave it for 5 min. before rinsing it out.
If you want very curly hair, use a light gel (spray ins work well) and comb it through the wet hair gently. Then scrunch the hair to help define the curl and let air dry.
If you want wavy/large curl, use a heat protection serum and blow dry the hair using a large roller brush. Make sure to get the hair completely dry or you will be fighting frizz until the next time you wash. To tame the fly aways and add shape, use a large curling iron or large curlers. The curlers that use clips to hold onto the hair are super easy to use, velcro curlers are a nightmare in curly hair.
P.S. I had curly short hair when I was young and HATED it. It was easy for my mom but I was teased for being the only girl in my class with short hair.

Buy some leave in conditioner and invest in a bottle of spray detangler. Buy some cute clippies and let her be a kid....it is just hair.

I have very curly, and frizzy hair. And on rainy, wet, weather it gets crazier! Which in Washington is pretty much always haha.

Anyways what I do is shampoo with Herbal Essence Totally Twisted and then rinse in warm water. Then take the Matching Totally Twisted Conditioner and comb it through her hair and leave it in for a few minutes.
By combing it through it is detangeling her hair and getting all the knots out. Then I rinse in cool water so that all my folicals are closed and it keeps out the frizz.

Then do not use a towel to dry her hair! That causes friction and that causes frizz. Wring it out with your hands and if you can and pin it back. After a few minutes put in a curl cream in her hair. If you have Fantastic Sams over there then they have the best curling cream. If not John Freida has a good hair serum. Whatever you choose scrunch it in her hair and then good to go!

Tips for curly hair, dont wash everyday, always rinse with cool water, and try not to touch it too much throughout the day.

Also if you do choose to flat iron her hair the let it dry completely and instead of using a curling cream use a straight hair spray you can find anywhere. Then use only a Ceramic Flat Iron about 2 inches. NEVER use a metal iron, sooo bad.

Stop all the spending, just keep it cut short and easy to manage. If they have SuperCuts in Ft. Wayne, give it a try. Don't give a little child a complex about hair....it will look cute short.....NO need for gel, mousse, hair spray, OR FLAT iron, on a seven year old unless she's in a wedding or production.

Try combing it first, then using a spritz bottle with water, thoroughly wet it down and scrunch it. If you want to put barrettes in do it while still wet. Don't comb it and try not to touch it after that.

Ok I have curly hair and always have. I have used Pantene for over 10 years and would not use anything else. It isn't the cheapest, but it is a lot more reasonable than a salon brand. I shampoo and condition everyday or sometimes everyother day. The type of Pantene I use is called Medium-thick hair - Frizzy to Smooth. I use both the shampoo and the conditioner. I do towel dry my hair and then brush it out ONLY when it is wet. After I brush it I used the Medium-Thick Hair Smoothing Creme also Pantene (blueish bottle). Then if you want it to stay curly leave it alone and let it air dry.
I am sure you may already be aware of this, but most hair stylists that I have been to don't seem to know this so I will say it - don't dry the hair and then try to spray something on to force the frizz to be better. Just air dry it. And most importantly, never brush it out when it is dry.
When I do this process my curls are defined and I have minimal frizz. durring the day in a pinch I will go to the bathroom and wet my hands and run my fingers through my hair to calm mid-day frizz. Hope this helps. I know the way I do it may not work for everybody, but it has worked for me since I started doing my own hair (prob 27 years).

The best product imo is Moroccan Oil. They have a curly hair version.

I have frizzy hair. I know it's expensive and kinda cheesy, but Wen cleansing cream is actually a really nice product. It is a thick cream cleanser and then you leave a bit on the ends of your hair as you rinse it out.
