I was wondering if someone can help me out here. My daughter is 5 years old and suffers from allergies year round. well today she woke up and started to cry because her nose was really congested and now it is runny. I thing she has a cold on top of the allergies. Like I said she is 5 years old and weighs about 38 pounds I think. Have any of you given your child Benadryl at this age and just how much do you give them? And also does anyone know of a good place to take her to be tested for allergies? I live in NE Mpls so anywhere close to St. Anthony, Columbia Heights or New Brighton, Mounds View or Fridley would be great! Thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Hi Ladies! I did call her doctor's office and they called me back, they were somewhat helpfull. I did go get her the children's Benadryl and gave her some at bedtime, she woke up around 1am and I gave her another teaspoon full and she went back to sleep. She woke up singing this morning which was a big improvement from the crying yesterday morning. Thank you for all of your help!

Hey S.. There is actually a pediatric Benadryl (should be on the store shelf right next to the Children's Motrin, Tylenol, etc.

My son had a couple of allergic reactions when he was about 3 years old and the doc instructed us to use the Pediatric Benadryl. Dosing should be right on the bottle... but it was great for us and cleared things right up. I'd call your doc's office and speak with a nurse just to be sure, but we've been fine with it. -- C :)
