I went with the Serta Perfect Balance Organic crib mattress. We don't do all organic by any means, but I felt it was worth it to spend a little extra on the organic crib mattress and I love it.
I've been trying to find information online about the best mattress to buy for our baby (will be born in December). Most reviews have given me a bad impression of Sealy mattresses, and I found some rave reviews on a Simmons baby/toddler mattress. Any help would be much appreciated!

The Best mattresses are going to be spendy, but worth it. Check out the organic rubber and wool types. I have been very very very happy with ours (2). I ordered them both from absolutelyorganicbaby.com. There are a few other sites that have TRUE organic matresses. You'll be amazed with the scarey things that are in regular matresses - the water proofing - it is sick!
Congrats on the new baby!
Do you have a Costco membership? I bought my baby's crib/toddler matteress from the Costco website. It's organic and was less than $200 with free shipping. We love it. Good luck!
I spent 150 on my first baby mattress (for the 1sst born). For my 2nd born, I bought one from babies r us for 30. Seriously....I dont' think the 150 dollar mattress was ANY better than the $30 matress. My only recommendation is to buy a waterproof liner for the matress.

If I had to do it again I would buy organic baby mattresses for my boys. Out here in CA it is law now that all mattresses have to have flame retardent in them, which is a known carcinogen. Organic mattresses use wool, which is both natural in nature, and a known flame retardent. Natura has the best products, they are in Canada. Good luck!
I will be real honest with you. I come from a family who owns a furniture store. It does NOT matter if you give an infant a $30 Walmart brand mattress or a $1500 custom made one. Reason being: they don't weigh enough to have to worry about things. When the child starts to reach around 40-50 lbs, THAT is when you want to start worrying about the best mattress for them. Honestly, don't waste your money on an outrageous amount from an infant.
As long as the mattress is 150 coils ( doc recommend that) or more, your ok with any kind.. You really don't need to go out and buy one thats $200 or more.
