We have a cleaner for Pets called Petzyme. I think we got it at Petsmart. It cleans up urine and poo GREAT. It also has a special enzyme in it to destroy the odor. It has worked wonders for our two dogs.
Okay, somehow or another our 2 dogs got into our house yesterday and pooped everywhere. Most of it came up okay but in one of our bedrooms the carpet is still badly stained. We have tried soap and water and Resolve. Our next thought is to rent a carpet cleaner. Do you have any experience removing pet stains from carpet? What would you recommend? This is really upsetting because this carpet is only 4 mo old and we waited 5 yr to finally replace it! Help!
The hydrogen peroxide worked wonderful! I tried it first since I already had it at home. I need to go to the pet store now and retreat to get the odor out. Thanks everyone for saving my carpet. :)

Did you use Resolve Dual Action (the one with 2 chemicals that you squeeze simultaneously). We use that for pet stains - it works far better than Resolve made specifically for pets! Go figure. I always found that works better than a steam cleaner.
We use Arm/Hammer Pet stain remover. I can't remember the actual name of it, but have only been able to find it in pet stores. It has worked really great for us.
Spray a bit of Prespot & let sit for a few minutes. Steam clean the area w/a solution of Tough & Tender and Solumel. Those steps always do the trick for me! I have 2 primarily indoor dogs who do the same thing from time to time. :(
You would definitely want to test this on a piece of a carpet before doing it, but it works great on my carpet and doesn't leave a ring like Resolve and other cleaners. I use straight Hydrogen Peroxide, pour just enough to cover the stain, let it sit for 2 minutes, then use a towel to soak it up...do not rub it in, just dab it out. Sometimes I have to repeat it but it works great. This can bleach some carpet so, again, test it first!

There is only one carpet cleaning company I trust to come into my house and that is Baby Safe Carpet Cleaning. They have been cleaning the carpets at both my house and my office for several years now. They do excellent work. Their phone number is ###-###-####. Tell them D. sent you.
Deep pet stains can easily be removed from carpet using Genesis 950. It is a surfactant based cleaner which works by breaking the bonds of stains and lifting them from the surface. In doing so, it not only removes the physical stain, but also the odor as well.
It is very important that the odor be completely removed because animals urinate instinctively where they smell urine. If you are using a cleaner that only masks odor, or a cleaner that does not get deep into the carpet, then you may run into problems with your animal repeating the behavior in that spot. Genesis 950 completely deodorizes and kills those odors. You will want to be sure not to clean with ammonia or vinegar (or any cleaner containing these) as those items contain some of the same chemical compounds found in urine. If your pet smells ammonia or vinegar, they may mistake it for the odors found in their urine and continue to go in that spot.
You also want to be sure you are killing any germs and bacteria found in the carpet from the urine. Stay away from enzymatic cleaners as these are bacteria based in themselves. When used, the living organisms in the enzymatic cleaners are released to feed on the stain. However they often do not have the energy to reach the core of the stain or to get into the padding. Also, being living organisms themselves, the will die out. When this happens, you then have to deal with the odor of their decomposition in your carpet. Gross.
The 950 is by far the best and most effective way to not just remove stains and odors, but also to make your home clean.
I use a professional service and if you choose to go that route, I have had excellent work from Joy Carpet and Dry Cleaning in Plano - it's a dry cleaning service and that's much better than wet vac. I have used them for years in apartments that I own. they can work miracles
I back up the Tough n Tender and Solumel. I just pour the Solumel straight on the stain. If you need more information on these products, please feel free to contact me
