Best-fitting Jeans

Why is it so hard to find really great fitting jeans? I usually try Old Navy because of price but there are areas(waist is too big and across my bottom is tight) that don't fit well. I have some problem areas like my tummy but am not a large person. I need to find a good pair that actually makes me look better. I don't want to break the bank either because I am working out to tone up those areas. Any ideas?

The best jeans are Cambio....I think Oprah did a whole show about these are the best jeans. If you buy them new at Neimans, they are about $120-200. But I would NEVER pay that. I buy them on ebay all the time for around $20. Also, I've bought several pairs at my resale store in Dallas for the same price...www.clothescircuit.com.

My fav pairs of jeans are old navy sweetheart. Have you tried jeans that have the stretch material in them, i have problems finding jeans also, cause i do have a "big" tummy, but small waist, "big" thighs and small calves, so i find that the stretch jeans fit well cause they will stretch where you need them to and dont where you dont. Good Luck!!

Hi T.,

Okay, I have to admit, I buy designer jeans because I just love jeans, but after having baby, my body changed so much that I had a small waist, bigger booty and much larger thighs. So I had to buy size 31's to fit my thighs and booty, but I was a 29 at the waist and they were huge around my waist...here's the fix, and another tip that you can use with any jean and during any time of weight loss. What you can do for very cheap is have a tailor bring in the waistline so that the thighs fit comfortably, and the booty too, and you can avoid all that rampant plumber Booty :) by having a talior bring them in. So the deal is that my body was a 31 in the thigh and booty but not in the waist- so bringing in the waist was fantastic and will give any jean, designer or not, that designer feel, which is tailored to your body, and the waist tailoring is quite cheap. Try this and remember that when you lose weight, jeans usually always still look good if the thigh area is a bit loose, but not if you can pull your jeans off without unzipping them right!? So this is what I did with my jeans while i still had the baby weight and now that it's gone i have all these designer jeans that look ridiculous because the waist is SOO big- so again, i just go back to the tailor and have her bring them in to exactly my size.

I hope this helps, and you can't even tell once they've been altered, they look exactly the same, no funny lines or breaks in seams or stiching.

Take care!

S.

Long and Lean style by the gap $50-60. I have had the same pair for 5 years and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them. I get extra long because I am tall.

The gap also just came out with some newer styles that are sooo flattering and make your tushy look sexy!

Ever tried Ann Taylor jeans? Saw some good ones in Vegas. You can prob get those online. May be $$

A step up from those are Lucky brand, but pricey @ $200. I had to take mine back b/c in my mind, I couldn't spend $200 on jeans.

Good luck!

I like A.N.A. jeans at JCPenny's but watch for them on sale - you can get them on sale pretty often for like $29! I hate spending money on clothes even though I wear them forever!

i know you said you don't want to spend too much money but I have a bunch of jeans from Levis all the way to Dolce Gabbana.
Hands down, my favorite pair are Paige laurel canyon. i have a small waist with a booty as well and these make me look fabulous! they are the same jeans Jennifer Anniston always wears.

Id suggest Ebay for a cheaper pair but I once ordered a pair of True Religions and they were fake. :/ Now I just prefer to buy them straight from the source so I know I'm getting the real thing. All you need is one pair. They'll last you forever. Every girl should have at least one really good pair of jeans. You're "going out" jeans. :)

I love my jeans from Old Navy. They are called "curvy" They are a bit more relaxed through the bottom, but they fit in the waist. They are not expensive either. I have only found them on-line though. It is easy to take them back to the store if they do not work for a full refund!! Hope this helps.

I feel your pain! I am in the same boat:( I used to buy only Old Navy for the same reasons. I tried JC Penny's St. John's Bay and LOVE them!!!!! The are a bit more expensive, but the quality is 100 times better! I always wait until they are buy one get one 50% off or sometime Penny's has them buy one get one for 88 cents!

Good Luck!!!!!

I love my Calvin Klein stretch flare jeans!!! They are not that expensive either. You can get them at Macy's Dillards, etc. for $69.

I'm also a big, big fan of David Kahn jeans. They cost more, but they fit great. They don't ride as low as some higher priced brands like 7 or Citizens do either.

Good luck!!

There are 2 brands of jeans that I like. One comes from Maurice's. Maurice's stores (www.maurices.com) are a little harder to find but there is one in Weatherford and one in Granbury and their clothes are really cute and inexpensive. I would say that is definately worth the trip over for sure. I love their brand of jeans and they do not cost an arm and a leg either. They have a lot of different styles, etc... I also really like the Harley Davidson jeans but they are a little more expensive. My problem is that I like the low rise jeans but I don't like my rear end to hang out. The Harley jeans are lower in the front and higher in the back - you know, for riding on a motorcycle. My husband and I have several pairs each.

I like Polo Jeans, especially the "Saturday" Jean. It is a straight leg, loose fit, but looks nice loose, not like a baggy jean. I guess the fact is that there are so many different styles out there because there are so many different types of bodies. I once went out vowing to spend anything to find a great pair of jeans, I went to Nieman's, Nordstroms, and tons of other stores and still never found any that I could really say I love!

I have the same problem, smaller waist, larger butt. I saw on a make-over show they said to go a size up and then have them tailored. I always thought that was expensive but a friend of mine has to have a lot of her stuff altered(she's really petite), and said it would be less than $10. I haven't tried it. I'm currently trying to lose some weight and hope my butt and upper thighs tone up a little which will help :-x
The jeans I like the most right now are the Merona jeans from Target. They have so many styles and washes, but see to fit me best. They also come longer on some styles which I love since I'm 5'9 and a lot of the lesser expensive brands come one inseam length, and are high water on me. I bought a pair of GLO brand jeans at Burlington Factory and get compliments when I wear them and the fit is great. I want to try to look for more. I find that the jeans with a lot of stretch are an easier fit, but after a couple hours of walking in them they get almost 'too loose'. Do you have that problem???! The other jeans I own that fit are a Hollister pair, Seven jeans, and American Eagle. Also, look at Plato's closet. There are several locations and you can get 'gently used' but name brand jeans there for a discount. I sell/buy there frequently and find some great deals! Hope this helped a little! :-)

Wow, it's interesting to see what a difference there is in what people consider not breaking the bank. lol

I love my Victoria's Secret jeans. I have 2 of the low-rise hipster jeans, but all of them are pretty good quality. Regular price is more than I would spend, but you can get them on sale for $35 or so usually. I've had my one pair for 3 years and they're still my favorites.

Good luck on your search!

I love Guess. They have a lot of styles. I like the low rise. I did pay over $00 but I have had them 5 yrs so that works out for a pretty good value.

Also, depending on your build....I am petite with a
little waist hard to fit. I have a couple pair of little boys size 12 jeans in Levis that work really well.

There is a Calvin Klein (daughter's faves) and Guess store in Allen at the outlet center. You don't get the same jean or quality but they are not bad. If you catch Guess at the right time, they have some premiums which do come from the store and are not made for the outlet. You have to ask.

Enjoy Shopping!

This is such a tough one since everyone has a different body type and preference for fit. I personally do not like skin tight jeans or ones with a super low waist since both accentuate a flabby tummy and show too much bottom. Here are a couple pretty good ones I've found:
GAP- The Classic and Essential fits. Gap has about 5 or 6 different fits but the drawback is they are a bit pricey and never go on sale.
DKNY- The SOHO jean (not sure if they still make this one since I bought it a couple of years ago but it's very comfortable for me). I got them at Dillards.
