Hi Moms,
Those of you that are PTs who know about diastasis recti or moms that suffer from it...what is the best DVD or book to help resolve this issue?
Will I see results with any of these DVDs? Lose your mummy tummy, Bounce back fast, or postnatal rescue?
Any other suggestions?
I have already had an umbilical hernia repair but still have that pooch from the diastasis recti.
Thanks!

What can I do next?

I asked my O.B. and my personal trainer and both told me the only way to truly correct it is surgery. Sorry.

I hate to tell you, but the only thing is surgery. My uncle is a PT and he can give exercises to help, but he said surgery is the only complete option to correcting it.

Hi everyone!
I am a licensed provider of the Tupler Technique, and would like you to know the best option is to commit yourself to doing The Tupler Technique. The Tupler Technique is the ONLY research-based program shown to heal and correct diastasis recti and get rid of the "mummy tummy". It was created and has been practiced for about 20 years by an R.N., Julie Tupler. I have now been practicing this program with my students/clients for over 6 months now and the results are nothing short of amazing. Being a pilates instructor, I have worked with many women and men and have found that this is the only non-surgical intervention that has worked for me and my clients. This program should only be taught by licensed professionals who have gone through the rigorous training. Please do yourself a favor and check out the main website www.diastasisrehab.com as well as links to practitioners in your area, who are always willing to answer any question you may have. It works - it amazingly works!! Your original question was that you were looking for a DVD - you can and should purchase the "Lose Your Mummy Tummy" DVD - but there is nothing like at least one personal session with a professional trained in the method (or a seminar). You should also know that even though you have had that hernia repaired, a very large percentage of those hernias return unless you repair that diastasis!

In the Moms Into Fitness Boot Camp 2 DVD the trainer talks about this condition and special measures to take if you have it. However, it's not intended to actually treat the condition, just allow you to exercise if you do have it.

I am a physical therapist, pilates instructor and mom of three. I had a severe diastasis after my third child and nothing I tried worked. I finally found the Tupler Technique and it worked amazingly well! I had such great results that I am now a licensed provider. Definitely look into it--it absolutely works.

I'm going to be looking for some help once I have this last baby in May too. I haven't gone to PT yet or spoken to my dr. But from what I've read and heard from friends there are some exercises that will certainly help. You have to be careful, because there are also exercises that can make it worse. I think I am going to get direction from a PT just to be sure I'm doing the right things. Good luck. If you find any concrete answers, post them or PM me, I'll be really interested to hear about it.
