Hi everyone. My sister-in-law found out she was pregnant with twins the day she brought home her adopted baby girl! She had her baby boy twins on Easter. Suggestions for the best gift to get her? Has anyone used the Bebe Bottle sling? Thanks!

What can I do next?

I think personally that the best gift would be to be there when she needs you. The poor thing is probably going crazy. I would also follow through on what I said. When I was pregnant with my oldest daughter we had tons of babysitters come out of the woodwork but when she got here, nada. I would totally volunteer to help her out or babysit when she needed a break. That is the gift needed most of all.

Not 100% sure what she has, but a multi-child stroller might be helpful. I have a double because I had a little guy & a daughter that was 3 that was having issues w/ swelling from her JRA & was having a hard time walking. Plus we also had a 2 yr old... so the 2 & 3 yr olds would take turns in the one side w/ the baby in the other side - it was a huge help when I was out & about by myself w/ all 3 kids.

Other stuff would be anything she uses on a day to day basis... diapers, wipes, laundry stuff, bath supplies (for her or the babies), ect. Depending on how much bedding supplies she has - she may need a few more sheets or baby blankets also.

Frozen meals could also be a huge help - something she can basicly just turn on the oven & be done w/ it. Or if you live close, offer to bring dinner over once a week on say Wednesday (or which ever day is best for you) for a little while. That way she doesn't have to worry about it on that day - I know with a baby in the house & a 2 & 3 yr old sometimes it was hard to come up w/ the time to cook dinner... so I can imagen w/ 3 babies it will be even harder.

I wish you SIL luck!!! Also, congratz to the whole family on the blessing!!!

Meals and a promise of when you could come hold a baby. Come in the mornings and change the crib sheets, do some loads of laundry, groc shop, set up a plan of other friends / family and put together a meal schedule. the take them a meal website is the best for that. and when you bring meals maybe bring some paper plates etc.... so there are no dishes to do. One thing I did find. a friend set up a plan for me and brought a bunch of dishes from a place called "my girlfriends kitchen" those were hard for me as they had to be really "cooked" its easier to have stuff you just microwave or bake. nothing that takes thinking lol. congrats to your friend and kudo's to you for trying to help.

I agree with Colleen T and Jennifer. Your time given is the best gift. I also had a two year old when my twin boys were born. There is so much to do, so little sleep and not enough hands. Coming over and spending time doing household chores, hold and feeding and playing with the babies. Maybe offer to help watch the kids so she can get out and get her nails done, go for a walk and just be in the quite for awhile by herself, or offer to watch the kids at night so mom and dad can get away for a dinner, movie or just a cup of coffee together. I also agree that most people feel funny about asking someone else to clean the bathroom or do the laundry, so if you see the need that something needs to be done, just jump in do it. It will be greatly appreciated. My kids are now 13 and 11 and I still remember most the kindness and helpfulness of my friends and family that gave the gift of time over anything bought from a store.

Hi M. - I agree with previous post that your time is going to be most valuable thing. If you want to make it a tangible gift, make up some coupons on the computer of things you are willing to do to help out. Housecleaning, laundry, babysitting, staying the night to help feed the babies so she can sleep, etc.

Check in with her often. When you're at her house, dont ask if you can help just find something that needs doing like setting up the dishes or making something for her to eat for lunch. Bring her a meal she can put in freezer or fridge - that kind of thing.

When my twins were born, I most appreciated meals, diapers, and offers to help out. I wasn't even looking for babysitting yet, I just needed someone to come hold a baby for awhile.

Make a bunch of meals that you can freeze and she can just throw the containers away. She is going to be a very busy mommy! Lots and lots of diapers, or find diaper coupons for her. I agree with the previous posting on helping with housework, or just staying to help with the babies. Don't wait for her to ask you, just pitch in. Tell her congrats on the three new blessings!

Having twins, I loved a couple of things. For right away a double boppy. They make double boppys for nursing. They are larger and higher on the edges and more square. While great for nursing twins, they also are great when they are ready to sit as they can sit within them and feel safe and happy while you change the other baby! Also, the same things that singleton kids like as they get a bit bigger.... a swing, doorway jumper and exersaucer were all great as the two can rotate through them. The excersaucer was great as they got older for putting one in while I bathed the other. I put the saucer in the bathroom with toys and plastic books on it so that one could play and be right behind me safely while the other was in the tub.

We use the monkey Bebe bottle sling and it is wonderful! I agree with the other moms -- your time is most helpful, but when you SIL doesn't have someone around to lend a hand the sling is great. I started using it when my son was approaching 4 months and he could actually get a better hold of the bottle. It makes shopping or doing chores around the house so much easier. Best of luck to all of you. What a blessing!!!
