Hi moms,
My daughter just joined Daisy's and I don't want to have to sew the patches on her vest. Do any of you know of a fabric glue or adhesive brand that works best to secure the patches.

Thanks!
D.

Most of the patches are iron-on patches these days. They also have an iron-on adhesive that they sell at the girl scout store if you need it.

Try "Badge Magic". It's a life saver! You just put the badge on the sheet, trace the shape, and cut it out. Then you peel off one side, stick the badge on, and then the other side peels off and you stick it to the clothing. A couple of good presses and that baby is on for good! But if should want to remove it later, you can send the garment to the dry cleaner and the solvent dissolves the adhesive and it falls right off! Ot if you just need to remove one badge, you can apply some "goof off" to the back, let it sit a bit, and then it will peel off.

I get my badge magic at the teacher store that sells all the scout merchandise in my area. But I'm sure you can Google it to find your nearest store that carries it.

Good Luck! D.

I use Liquid Stich which I picked up at WalMart for just about everything and it works just fine.

There are several fabric glues out there that will work. Check out the local craft/fabric stores and you'll find something. I am a big fan of using what I have on hand at the house. So when I needed to attach some patches to a work apron for my son, I used hot glue. It was easy, no running around, and quick...he was wearing it five minutes later. I have a dual temperature gun and I use the cooler setting to keep from accidentally melting anything. It's not the first time I have hot glued fabric, I do it all the time for Halloween costumes. :)

The Girl Scout store sells a sheet of stuff that works like the iron on badges. You just trace your badge, cut out the sheet and iron it together.

I use Stitch Witchery. It's a roll of web-like stuff that you place between your patch and the vest. You use a hot iron on top of a damp cloth and it works beautifully! Goes thru the washer and dryer just fine, too. =0) You can find it at any craft store.....Michael's, JoAnn Fabrics, Hobby Lobby, etc. Super cheap too.......a roll is about $3 and lasts forever!

I have a Cub Scout and it seems that if I use Stitch Witchery, I find that eventually the patches peel off after washing a few times, I do not put the uniform in the dryer, only wash on delicate. I have been using Aleene's OK to Wash-It glue that I picked up at either Michael's or Walmart (don't remember which one) and it seems to work well. Just do not put too much as it will ooze out and can't be removed. I have also done it where I used Stitch Witch to adhere the patch and put a couple stitches in each corner with thread to make sure they don't peel. I have a boy, so he may be rougher in uniform than your Daisy. :)

I bought some patch glue at Hanover farbics when my girls were in Girl Scouts. I worked great. I even washed their vests and they stayed on. I cannot remember what color the bottle was but there were only 2 choices and it was the smaller/thinner bottle at the time. I wasn't able to find anything at Michaels back then.

My mother used to teach a scout group, and she found that hot glue worked better than anything. She would just hot glue the patches & place them on the scarf, then flip the scarf over & iron the back side to melt the glue all the way through. It held up great during washing and regular wear & tear.

Thanks for asking this question. I am looking forward to finding out a solution to keeping the patches on the vest! My daughter was not too happy when I stapled her girlscout patches on her vest!

Try Badge Magic - it's basically peel and stick. It even stays on through the laundry.
