I recommend getting a warranty plan or at least a case for whatever you decide - that has saved my 10 year old son's ipod Touch several times, and he used his own money to buy it, so he takes really good care of it!
My daughter is 10 and wants an MP3 player. Her request is one that has a huge music file and allows her to play games. Possibly a movie player or ebooks. Any suggestions.
Thanks in advance

My 10 year old has a Sansa MP3 player. This is her second one b/c she lost the first one. :-) You can get all different GB sizes and so far, she's never had it too full to not add more songs. We like it because it is inexpensive and for what she wants to do--play music--it works. If you're looking for something that they can use to play games on also, I would look at the Itouch like others have suggested. HTH!
Ipod touch is great and does all those things.
I was recently looking into the ipod touch and found out people were having trouble with the glass screen breaking and Apple would not replace them without a huge charge. So if you go that way be sure to get a warrenty plan. I would suggest the Zune except she will want to be playing games her friends are playing I am sure. The Zune is a great MP3 player though. You can play games on it and watch movies also. It is cheaper.
My girls are 10 and each have an iPod Touch (as does my 12 year old son). One daughter uses it more for music and taking photos while the other plays games. We have not had any problems with them. I maintain the Apple/ITunes account with my own password which requires me to enter the password when they want to download a game but it means I don't get any surprise charges to my account. I've heard horror stories. :( It is worth the extra $30 to go for 32 gig over the 8 gig just because games can take up more storage space than music.
Hope you find something that works for your daughter.
My sister has a Zune and loves it, my disabled son has an iTouch and I have an iTouch and we have had them for 2 almost 3 years and haven't had a problem yet (and in that time frame I have gone through 5 cell phones - I'm hard on technology, oh and my 2nd laptop thank goodness for extended warranties). Best Buy has the best warranty out there hands down, they have an accidental warranty so if the glass breaks they will either replace it or fix it.
ipod touch OR one better would be an iPhone 3gs. Does EVERYTHING the iPod Touch does AND makes calls. $50 right now through apple.com
You don't have to set up the phone service, however, if you don't want her to have a phone just yet.
iPod touch hands down. You can get covers for them which you will definately want. There are so many different ones so you want to shop around and see what works best for your needs. As far as it breaking, if you throw it around it will (like any other mp3 player would). I've never had a problem with mine. Its like a mini computer, it really is. You won't regret buying it.
