Best Natural Stretch Mark Minimizing Cream?

I'm due in 3 weeks and have painful stretchmarks. I was told that I could start using Mustela cream now to minimize the stretchmarks and keep using it after pregnancy, but it has all kinds of synthetic ingredients and parabens in it, which I would rather not expose the baby to. Could anyone recommend a stretch-mark minimizing cream or treatment that has natural ingredients? I want something very effective, so if Mustela is my best bet I'll just wait until the baby is born to start using it. Thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for the recommendations, everyone. I would love to hear from someone who first GOT stretchmarks and then found something effective to get rid of them, since that's the situation I'm in. I know women who are 100 pounds overweight with no stretchmarks, but even after staying exactly on target with my weight gain, using the best creams, and staying nourished and hydrated, I have wicked stretchmarks on my belly--the only place I got big. I'm extremely fair-skinned, which seems to put me in the nearly-100%-likely-to-get-stretchmarks category. Grr.

I can't imagine lavendar oil or aloe doing enough by themselves (pure wheat germ oil hasn't helped me so far, and it's one of the best natural ways to heal scars), and Arbonne products DO use petro-chemicals, parabens, and numerous other synthetics, as do all other "mail-order" beauty products I've seen: http://safemama.com/2009/05/05/faq-why-arent-arbonne-baby... Maybe I'll see what Whole Foods carries, since they're vigilant about the "safe" part of "safe and effective," at least. Any other suggestions are welcome.

L.,

I don't have time to go into why it works but you need to buy a very high quality lavender oil and rub that on your belly. I would highly recommend Young Living brand, they are the best around that I know of. The oil you would get at your local health food store is not that high quality.

Find them on the web, I am not sure if you must sign up in order to purchase their products or not but we did just so we could get them at a lower price. We also use something called Gentle Baby (it's the name of an oil blend they carry) and I know that is really good for skin regeneration as well. Do yourself a favor and research this company and their products I think this is probably what you are looking for.

Buy an Aloe vera plant, used in Salon's for burns, break stem and apply directly to area. Or check-our local store bran containing Aloe, or Body Butter, actual name of product. Remember most strech marks will fade quite a bit after delevery, however I would begin using cream now, the sooner the better, any safe cream is better than none. Best of luck to you and new baby. And for after the baby is born, you can not buy a better burn cream than streight from the Aloe plant, for anyone in the house.

I can guarantee to you that Mustela would never work if it's got synthetics in it.

I just saw a very good presentation from my Arbonne Rep -- all natural skin care. She had a graham cracker sitting inside a jar of baby oil for over a year... it was still crunchy. Anything with petroleum is basically refined crude oil. Wax is wax. Neither is absorbed into skin. Both just sit on top.

Arbonne is one of the best all natural product lines I've ever seen.

Avon has one, I believe.
You could also try Better Health or Whole Foods and see what they have to offer

If you find something that actually works, please let me know. I have tried EVERYTHING! on my strech marks, from day one, the 1st time I saw one at about 4 months on. Nothing has worked for me :-(

I used Mustela stretch mark cream EVERY SINGLE DAY in my first pregnancy (it cost a fortune) and got not one single stretch mark. My son is 100% perfectly normal. He us three now. There is no way your skin could absorb the parabens or the other ingredients you may be fearful of (which are likely in all emolients) all the way through the skin, muscle, adipose tissue, etc, to the uterus or placenta. Besides, if you have three weeks to go, your baby is done developing his brain and organs, and is mostly putting on weight so he can come out into the world. Relax... use the cream and get some relief!

I used Olive Oil the entire time I was pregnant and I didn't get any stretch marks. I don't know how that will do since you already have them, but I don't see any harm in trying! Good luck!

Also, I have research online that states that Arbonne does use parabens, so before you use them, I would do research of your own. http://www.arbonnemarketing.com/PDF/FOD/Parabens.pdf

I don't know when that came out and if they are still using them, but the irritating thing about Arbonne is that you cannot find their ingredients on their products...I don't know about you, but it seems like they might be hiding something.

Hi L.! I am a representative for USANA HEALTH SCIENCES. They have a lotion called Firmming Body Nourisher that has absolutley no parabens or chemical preservatives in it. When we put something on our skin, it only takes 10-15 minutes to absorb into our bloodstream. They also have a skin care line that is also paraben free and is wonderful!! Used by many dermatologists! There is so much to say about these products, and I personally am so thankful that someone told me about them!! You can check them out if you care to on the website. Congratulations on your precious little one. What a joy it is to be a MOMMY!!
Take care and God Bless You!!
