Our photographer took our girl's pictures at Grapevine Botanical Gardens. It was similar to a very small version of the Arboretum with a place to run, waterfalls, a small pond with fish, playground, etc. We loved it and there was no charge.
Any good recommendations for a fun place to go for a picnic now that the weather is nice. There is of course the Dallas Arboretum, but does anyone have any other favorites? Thanks!

My kids love the big wooden playgrounds. We like the one in Rowlett called Kid's Kingdom. I think there is also one in Carrolton. We recently went to Lake Lavon, which is just north of Garland/Sachse area off of Hwy 78. Really nice area and if it is warm enough they have some good beaches with swimming areas.
Finch park in McKinney is a nice one... pretty old trees, a creek, playgrounds and picnic tables...
Caruth Park in Highland Park, and White Rock Lake were favorites even when I was growing up.
Heritage Village (aka Old City Park) in downtown Dallas.

They offer one free day per month. I think it's the first Sunday of the month, but I'm not sure.
Celebration Park in Allen is always fun. It's a spray park and they also have a really nice play area and picnic tables.
Heard Museum in McKinney.
