Companies that want name recognition, companies that have a policy of donating goods and services to community organizations, companies that sell maternity and childrens' goods, smaller businesses that can write off donations or use them as part of their advertising budget. You can also ask for monetary donations from businesses you have some connection with. Check with local hotels, resorts and restaurants who may donate gift certificates to promote goodwill. Also small independent business people might donate and appreciate having a mention or their logo on your event program.

local burrito/burger/taco/sandwich shop may donate a buffet or sandwich or whatever. Be sure to have a letter regarding your event and what the money raised will be for.

Small business owner - gift store: May donate an item from "last season" that didn't sell last year. Be sure to tell them that the list of doorprizes and their store name will be available for all to see (ie, free advertising) in exhange for her donation.

Local car wash - giving one free wash.

Local ice cream shop giving a free scoop/sundae.

Door prizes should be small 'freebies' IMO, right? I am used to raffles, where items are bigger/better. But for door prizes, just the tiniest thing is a nice treat. I mean heck a box of Oreos donated from Walmart would be one more doorprize. If my friend makes cute picture frames with her scrapbooking paper, I'd ask her to donate a frame to the event. I say the more prizes the better, even if they're small. People just like hearing their name called saying they've won!

Wal-Mart stores designate a certain amount of money each month to donate to charities, but you have to ask. Go to your local wal-mart, and talk to the store manager about what you need. They will donate items or cut you a gift card to buy items. It's the first week of march so I bet they have funds left to give you.

You could try contacting Abbott's public relations. They do a lot for supporting pregnant & nursing mothers as well as infant care & nutrition. I would assume they might provide products as well as promo items (diaper bags, coupons, cooler bags, bottles, ...)

I am a local children's on-location photographer. I specialize in newborns, maternity, young babies, and family portraits. I have donated many items over the past few years for auctions and fundraiser events. If the people attending are from the NW suburbs, contact me with more information about your event and non profit group. ____@____.com

If not, another local photographer or studio might help you out.

I am also in Illinois. We do a lot of fundraising type stuff at our parish. The companies we found most likely to donate were family owned locally ownded places. So not places like chili's etc. a lot of dentists / doctors offices are willing to donate sample things if your putting together baskets of stuff.
if you have time to do it email / write in to places like shedd aquarium, sci tec, field museum etc. they will donate family passes. bowling alleys and skating rinks are also really good. movie theaters not so much lol
