Best Toy for 3 Yr Old Girl

My son's hands down favorite toy at 3 (and still used OFTEN to this day at age 8). Also the neighborhood's hands down favorite toy. By 3 (we got it when he was 2) we started requiring a helmet for outdoor riding. If you have tile (or just don't like noise), get a bike shop to replace the wheels with rollerblade wheels for a MUCH quieter indoor ride.

Our daughter loved her riding toys also at this age.. Trike, jeep.

She loved to pretend and dress up, so dress up clothing was always a hit.

If she does not have many, start purchasing board games. the sharing, taking turns, losing, winning all of these things are about to be very important in her development.

All of our girls loved their fisher price doll house at that point in time. As a matter of fact, the twins are quickly approaching 6 yrs old and still use it all the time :)

As for marbles, I do believe she's still a bit young to grasp that concept. Perhaps closer to 5 yrs?

My daughter loves her dollhouse and dress up clothes the best. She just turned 3 too. :)

My 4 yr old got a bike for her 3rd bday and a scooter for christmas shortly after...she has loved them to death! I am not sure about "educational toys" at this age, but there are wonderful picture books, or books targeted to her "intrests" ie princess, bugs, being a big/little sister, etc.

both my girls (my 5.5 year old and now my 2.5 year old LOVE having their own easy to use CD player with microphones! I just make burned copies of CD's from the library or ones from home so I can save the original if the copies get scratched! They love to sing, dance, and orchestrate in their room.

A good set of wooden building blocks, both basic geometric shapes and some architectural blocks (turrets, arches, finials, etc.) and some wood dollhouse figures (we got a castle set - king and queen, princess, knight, horse). I got them when my daughter was 3. She still plays with them at 9.

I am going to answer both your questions here!

My son is just turning 3 and we recently got him a Leapster Explorer, which he loves (some of the games frustrate him a little, but he's quickly picking it up and he loves the Leapfrog movies and the e-books I downloaded to his handheld). He also likes to play doctor (he's been giving his animals their flu shot using a block as the shot) so I got him a play doctor bag for his party this weekend. He also loves "cooking" for us, so I would recommend a kitchen and play pots and pans and play food (I found the $0.99 plastic plates, cups and bowls at Walmart and went to the baby area for plastic silverware-was cheaper than the play sets and didn have flower or girlie patterns for my sons :-) but the play sets will probably work fine for your girls). Also at this age, you can start buying board games-my son loves memory and he is getting uno-moo and hi ho cherry-o for his birthday.

My niece loved baby dolls and strollers/swings/cradles at this age-anyhing to pretend to be mommy. Your 1 year old will quickly like those also as your older daughter plays with them (my older son plays with his trucks and now his 14 month old brother wants to also so I went and bought big soft trucks so he could play with his big brother-so maybe get your younger her own baby dolls to play with her sister!
My 1 year old also likes blocks, phones, anything with music, his pull dog and books. He also likes pretending to eat when his brother makes him "food" so my friend got him a baby kitchen.

I want to get a marble set too, but I want to wait until the baby is a little older just in case.

It's been awhile, but here are some of the things my girls loved...

A nice ride on toy like a big wheel or tricylce.
A wagon - not only for her to ride in, but to carry things in, the dollies loved the wagon.
Puzzles
Books - you can read them to her now, and she will read them to you later
Kitchen set - if she enjoys pretend play

I don't like the idea of marbles for this age, even though she's beyond the choking stage, there's still the risk, and I'm sure Dad will step on one in the middle of the night.

I've always loved little people. They have so many different sets out there, that you can get her one for every birthday and christmas and after a few years you'll have the whole town. We really like the castle set, we also have the house and the barn. I know they make some like an animal zoo that teaches the letters too.

My daughter is 3.5 and she's into her play kitchen, Little People, Barbies (my old ones and a few new ones), dress up and books.

You can find inexpensive kitchen sets but I highly recommend anything from Step 2. WalMart usually has pretty good deals. I got mine on Cyber Monday a few years ago for almost 1/2 off. Fisher Price makes a Loving Family doll house that's not terribly expensive but is a lot of fun to play with. You could get her the doll house and ask others to bring her pieces for it. The Little People are a LOT of fun too. We got my daughter the Princess Castle last year and she still plays with it all the time.
