Hi ladies,

my home is tile through out in the kitchen, living and dining. It needs to be cleaned something fierce. I really don't wanna get on my hands and knees and scrub for hours and it would take weeks to clean these floors considering how large the space is. Is there grout cleaning machines I can rent? If not what its the best tile and grout cleaning method? Is hiring a professional pricey?

I am also wanting someone to come and deep clean the house. Base boards.. Dust... mop.. and bathrooms. We are moving out of out rental home and need this place spotless =)

Thanks in advance

I use Shine Cleaning for my bi-weekly cleanings and they are wonderful! They will also do a one time deep cleaning if you want. You can find all of their information on http://www.shinecleaning.net/. Tell them J. Ingendorf referred you.

As for cleaning the grout, you can buy grout cleaners and just start scrubbing. Unfortunately, that is the only way to do it that I know of. You can also ask Shine Cleaning if they offer that service. I've never asked so I don't know.

I'm not convinced about any grout cleaning service or device - it just doesn't pass the common sense test. Grout is essentially concrete, which means it's porous. My experience tells me that the grout is stained, not dirty. There are grout paints you can by at Home Depot that (after cleaning) can be applied and your floor will look like new - for many months anyway.

I can only give you my experience with Merry Maids. I also wanted a deep clean for my downstairs area. I wanted the same thing you wanted. We met with someone first who gave us a list of everything that would be done and it was impressive. The cost was over $300 and we did it because we had just gotten rid of a dog to help our sons' allergies (sadly the dog was their main problem) and to just get the house clean. We had two people show up and they cleaned for several hours. The problem is they didn't do as promised. Watermarks were left near the tub, not all the doors were not cleaned, they didn't touch the baseboards that I could see, kitchen table had food on it left from breakfast, and the cabinet doors did not appear to have been touched. These things were on their list. So I called and ask someone from Merry Maids to come to my house and see what $300 bought me. They didn't appear to even clean under furniture. We would have gladly paid $100 for the clean because they did clean, but in the end Merry Maids would not come and see how the house was cleaned and they refunded all our money. My suggestions is be at home and watch them and look at the list if you use Merry Maids. You might get a good crew, but we did not. I was so disappointed.

I used Stanley Steemer to clean the white tile/grout in a bathroom and the results were amazing...couldn;t believe the difference! Will probably do it once a year, from now on.

I would highly recommend a professional. Renting the machines can get expensive & you would need the right chemicals to remove the dirt. I would recommend Caldwell carpet cleaners. They do a fantastic job & are very professional. Their number is ###-###-####. For deep cleaning I've used a wonderful lady, jenny Wilcox ###-###-####. She does a fantastic job with deep cleaning your home. I would get the grout done first & then a deep clean. Good luck!

I know you said you don't want to get on your hands and knees, but I've found that a mix of equal parts vinegar and water and a little scrub brush clean grout really well. You might want to try it before spending a bunch of $$!

Look into carpet cleaning services. Many companies like Chem dry have a grout service, too. I once had my kitchen floor done and it looked amazing. I think they charge by the square foot. The company that came to my house was Zero Rez Carpet Cleaning.
