Beware of Thimerosal (Mercury) in Shots - Please Read! Seeking Dr Too

Does anyone know Pediatricians in the area that support using vaccines without Thimerosal in them?

Being a biochemist, I thought this was a hype at first. But since my son developed an ongoing eating disorder, I have paid more attention and think everyone should be aware of this. Did you know Thimerosal is about 50% Mercury, and there are Drs at Baylor in Houston that see its damage on cells. There are also other studies on brain damage, links to autism, other retardations, auto-immune problems and digestive problems. Most likely this is because some bodies cannot rid the toxin. Pharmaceutical companies selling the vaccines are the ones supporting the CDC and NIH studies on it and want to keep it quiet. Please check your flu, chicken pox, combo and other shot vials at the Drs - to see if it has Thimerosal and if so, consider the health hazards and ask for ones without it.

Also, Dr. Boyd Haley, U of Kentucky, established a likely connection between mercury toxicity and Alzheimer’s disease.

and a paper saying the CDC does not make manufacturers list it if it is trace amounts:

First, you should have ALL the information, not just the "scary" bits and pieces of the information. Here's the FDA link to Thimerosal information:

http://www.fda.gov/CBER/vaccine/thimerosal.htm

"Thimerosal has been removed from or reduced to trace amounts in all vaccines routinely recommended for children 6 years of age and younger, with the exception of inactivated influenza vaccine (see Table 1). A preservative-free version of the inactivated influenza vaccine (contains trace amounts of thimerosal) is available in limited supply at this time for use in infants, children and pregnant women. Some vaccines such as Td, which is indicated for older children (> 7 years of age) and adults, are also now available in formulations that are free of thimerosal or contain only trace amounts. Vaccines with trace amounts of thimerosal contain 1 microgram or less of mercury per dose."

Also important to note:

"In 2004, the IOM's Immunization Safety Review Committee issued its final report, examining the hypothesis that vaccines, specifically the MMR vaccines and thimerosal containing vaccines, are causally associated with autism. In this report, the committee incorporated new epidemiological evidence from the U.S., Denmark, Sweden, and the United Kingdom, and studies of biologic mechanisms related to vaccines and autism since its report in 2001. The committee concluded that this body of evidence favors rejection of a causal relationship between thimerosal-containing vaccines and autism, and that hypotheses generated to date concerning a biological mechanism for such causality are theoretical only. Further, the committee stated that the benefits of vaccination are proven and the hypothesis of susceptible populations is presently speculative, and that widespread rejection of vaccines would lead to increases in incidences of serious infectious diseases like measles, whooping cough and Hib bacterial meningitis."

You should not have any problems getting vaccines that are safe for your children from virtually any pedi.

I am a mom of four children, three of whom may have been affected by immunizations. I understood that thimerosal was banned by the CDC as of 1995, am I mistaken?

More to the point of offering advice and help, Dr. Jepson works with children affected by this and other environmental toxins, using diet and chelating agents. I believe he has a son with autism. Here's an email that will get you in touch with his office <____@____.com>. You can also read more about it at Thoughfulhouse on the internet.
One great help is VITAMIN C. If you and your child are not taking large doses already, I recommend starting. Several thousand milligrams. If you want more info, let me know.

I hope this has been helpful, and feel free to give me some advice on this matter.

Thimerosal was removed from all vaccines in 2000 or 2001 (I can't remember exactly)due to all the commotion surrounding the autism epidemic (I'm deeply involved in the Autism community). However, there are some doctors who still have "left over" vaccines on their shelves that still contain thimerosal. But, I don't know any pediatricians (in the Plano area) who haven't thrown out all the old vaccines with that stuff in them.

Yes, Dr. Brown in Dallas does not use thirmerosal as well. And you have to specifically request that it not be in the flu shots that are given - -it currently is still being put in the flu shot and you have to make sure you let the rn know or doc know that you are not interested in the flu shots that have it. And like another responder said, I was told by Dr. Brown in Dallas that they are no longer making vaccines with that in it.

Hi K.,
As a Pedi RN w/ 4 kids of my own I can tell you that there is NO scientific evidence of the correlation between thimerisol and Autism.
Most Autism is diagnosed between the ages of 12 and 18 months- the same time the MMR is routinely given. With more awareness of what autism is and better screening methods the medical world IS diagnosisn more autism than it used to- and finding more interventions earlier on.
Thimerisol has been phased ouyt of vaccines since 1999 (or so) and yet the number of cases of autism diagnosed has NOT dropped.
Others have given you links to consider- here are a couple of more:
http://www.autism-biomed.org/thimerosal-pertussis.htm
http://www.cdc.gov/nip/vacsafe/concerns/thimerosal/faqs-a...

Hope this helps
