I am interested in purchasing a bike trailer for my 14 month old daughter. This would be for recreational biking. Can anyone recommend a trailer? Burley? Chariot? other brands you like? thanks.

What can I do next?

I have heard AMAZING things about the Chariots... they are $$ but seem to be worth the money. I have been looking on Craigslist, and there aren't any listed (but there are tons of Burleys)

My Husband and I purchased a Chariot Cougar II for our 15mo old son this Spring. We absolutely love it. Yes, it is quite an investment, but we have gotten our money's worth. We were never big bikers before our son was born, but now we go 3-4 times a week. It is a dream to pull behind a bike - I even have no problem pulling it. Plus, the shocks provide a great ride for him. He sits in it for 1-2 hours without a peep.

It has several attachments that you can purchase. We also bought the jogging wheel and stroller wheels. Our brother-in-law originally bought the single and had to up-grade after their second child was born. This is why we got the double right from the get go. For now, we really like having all the extra storage space.

It's too big the push around indoors such as the mall or Target, so we have a regular stroller too. Surprisingly, the Chariot folds up smaller then my stroller.

We love our Chariot and would recommend it to anyone looking to buy a bike trailer/jogger.

Hi J.,

We have the Schwinn double seat bike trailer and have been really happy with it. It's lightweight, yet durable enough to withstand my 2 boys. It converts from a bike trailer to a stroller, which is nice si you don't have to take an extra stoller for a day trip or even to the cabin. It folds down farly compactly for storing or hauling. I think we bought it at Target, but I've also seen it at Fleet Farm and other stores. Good luck!

We've had a burley for about 7 years. Our kids our now 4 and 7 and we can still cram both of them in there if we need to (my 7 year old is on the small side - 46 lbs). Anyway - it is still in wonderful shape and we've never had any kind of problems with it. We got a stroller conversion kit and that has been very handy too. Our burley was actually one of our best kid purchases. Good luck!

My husband and I purchased the Schwinn bike trailer from Target in May. We considered a Burley, but didn't want to spend that kind of money, so we went with a cheaper one but a band that we know and that is reputable. We love to ride our bikes, but we are not what you would consider avid bike riders! We love the trailer and best of all our daughter loves it too. She falls asleep in there almost everytime and she is now 17 months old. You can put the one child in the middle and when you have two, they will both have there own seat as well. There are pockets and cup holders for each child inside and a trunk compartment to carry and bags for picnics, groceries if you go to the store... It came with a stroller conversion kit and the flag when you're riding. I love it and it is a lot cheaper than buying a burley! You can find them on Craigs list if you have your heart set on a burley. Hope this helps!

We are also recreational bikers and recently bought a Columbia brand trailer at SportsMart in Roseville and absolutely love it! It was around $140, and it comes with the kit to convert it to a jogging stroller--so you're really getting 2 for the price of 1! Our little guy (14 months) loves to ride in it, and it seems very safe. It has a 5 point harness and also came with the bright orange safety flag. I pull it with my bike quite often, and it pulls easily and seems like a nice, smooth ride.
