The pull behind ones are much safer if you have a wreck, so I'd go with that kind. They generally are 2 seaters, and then you can rearrange the harnesses if you want to just have one.
Hello moms I am looking to buy a new bike and I was debating between getting a pull behind or just get a seat that attaches to my frame? I have a 2 1/2 y/o and a 6 y/o so my 6 y/o likes to ride but sometimes I may pull her but is it to heavy and should I get a thing that I can attach her bike to?? Or just get the seat for my 2 y/o? So please help thanks

I find the seat to be much safer :)
Depending on the size of your 2 year old, the WeeRide Kangaroo bike seat may be a good option. I've found it to be very easy to use with my almost-3-year-old. It sits in front of you instead of behind, making it easier to interact with the child and much easier to balance. It's recommended for kids up to 40 lbs.
I haven't tried any of the devices to pull behind, so I don't have any advice on those.
Happy biking!
I used a bike seat for our almost 5 year old, but when we had our twins we got a Schwinn pull behind trailer. It also converts to a stroller. I loved the pull behind. I felt very tipsy with the bike seat. The trailer feels much safer, and the bonus is you can use it as a stroller.
I am not sure which would work better for you but a few things to think about are...Will you have any more children? If yes I woul get a trailer so you can have more use. If you do decide to get a trailer I would check out Craigs list. I just bought a bearly used Schwinn bike trailer that retailed for $250 for $90.
Good luck, K.
Bike trailers are safer because if your bike tips over, the trailer won't. Mine holds 2 kids, a total of 100lbs, but each child is not supposed to weigh over 50 lbs. I still pull my almost 5yr old and she weighs 46 lbs.
We use a Burley for our 16 month old that attachs to the bike and then gets pulled behind. It has a cover that helps keep out the wind and the bugs. I also recommend it because you can transfer to different bikes. We bought ours on craigslist.
Good morning.
I had 5 kids and I would go with the pull behind...WAY SAFER.
I was young and strong and had a seat attached and I tipped over.
It was very scary and I never used the seat after that again.
Pull behind do not cause you to tip usually but the seats attached can throw your balance off like in my case.
Hope this helps, J.
I would make your two year old ride if they want if not get a seat.
