Hi Moms,
I was thinking about going on the Yaz birth control pill. I get really bad symptoms(I'm seriously a different person:( ) about a week before my period. So, I was hoping that not only would this pill prevent pregnancy but also help with the pre stuff. Does anybody who's tried this pill have any feedback? I apologize in advance if this question has already been posted but I don't have a whole lot of time for the computer:)
Thanks,
J.

Hi J.

I went on Yaz a couple of different times...and loved it! My cramps reduced significantly, my flow became lighter, and I lost 10 lbs everytime I went on it. I highly recommend it! Good Luck :)

I tried it but found that the constant spotting drove me nuts. They say it can happen for the first few months. After 3, I gave up. (Sorry, wish I had better news)

I was on Demulen for 10 years until it was discontinued over a year ago. I liked it a lot for the extra benefits. They said Zovia was the sub but didn't do it for me (didn't help ease the mood swings, got too emotional, etc.) until I read about Yaz, which is the closest thing to what I was used to. Yaz works for me in that respect, but I skip a period everyone once in a while, which never happened before. Anyway, I'm just content with Yaz I guess, so I'm staying on it for now. I would give Seasonale a try, do you know if it's any good? Good luck.

Hi J., I use to take the Yaz birth control pill. I had no problems with this birth control pill. I can't say it completly helped with the pre period problems but it did help some. I still would get cranky or emotional but it did seem to help with my pre cramps. Since having my first child I tried the mirena IUD and I love it. I haven't had any problems and I don't have to remember to take a pill each day or have a period each month! But you will have to make sure your insurance covers the mirena IUD.
Good luck!

Hi. I used to take Yaz (preg. now so no BC) and I still got pretty crampy and all that a week or two before my period. It wasn't too bad though.

I can totally relate! I tell my husband that when I start acting that way send me to bed for a few days! J/k. I was taking the pill for about 6 mo. it worked great with the PRE symptoms. the down side is that your sex drive becomes non existant. I'm not sure if this is true for everyone who takes it though. so look into the side effects. good luck

After reading the advice of all the other mamas, I notice that no one has suggested that you discuss birth control with your husband. It IS a partnership and HE should take some responsibility for it too.
