D.G.
I have been on Yaz for 4 months. I was worried about weight gain, but haven't gained anything with no change in lifestyle. Yaz has balanced my hormones, only doing great things for me.
I need advice!! I need to change my birth control method. I'm currently on the Implanon and hate it!! I'm constantly bleeding and especially after intercourse. I'm also trying to lose weight and I'm afraid of gaining if I switch. I've been exercising for 3 months and have ONLY lost 8 pounds, I blame my birth control. I've changed my eating habits, lifestyle...EVERYTHING but my birth control....HELP!!!!!
Well Thank you everyonbe! I made an appointment with my provider to get this out of my arm. I attempted to try the Mirena but my utuerus is too retroverted and it couldn't be placed properly. I'm going to see about Yaz, it'll will only be until August. My husband deploys in July, so after that I won't need anything. Then when he returns it's snip snip time

Mirena... I don't know about the weight thing because I have PCOS which makes it hard for me to lose weight. I had bleeding off and on for a month at first and now no periods at all. It's worth looking into if you are going to switch.
Just my 2 cents. I've been on many forms of the pill for 15+ years. I did notice some weight gain while on Ortho Novum, but while I was on Ortho Tricylcline and Alesse I did not have an issue with weight. In fact while on Alesse I lost 37lbs while doing weight watchers. So I disagree that all hormones can cause weight gain. Definitely discuss with your OB which is best for you.
I have Mirena- I like it!
I'd love to work together on weight loss!
Shoot me a message!
If you want the Mirena, I would try for a second opinion. Some doctors have better luck than others placing them. You'd be surprised.
Good luck!
well if you are wanting to change birth control the nuva ring is really good. I only have a 2-3 day period and it is really light. I have also lost some weight with the nuva ring and able to keep it off. I have not had to change my eating habits at all. I have never had bleeding after intercourse. I hope that i was able to help you with some part of your choice
I never had much luck with weight loss on either a progestin based or combination pill, most hormonal bc is some version of one of those. To make matters worse my libido took a nose dive, so I was overweight and not in the mood!;) I have been off of it for a while and now, three months after my second was born I am down about 22lbs. I started working on it at about 4 weeks after he was born, so I am happy with the results. For me it was just easiest to go with the ole condom approach. We did have one scare so it isn't fool proof of course! I am also thinking of getting a diaphragm. I like these methods bc there is no hormone and no painful insertion of anything and whenever I want to get pregs again, I can. Best wishes whatever you decide!
I lost a TON of weight with YAZ. I currently do not take it b/c I am pregnant with baby # 3 but when I stopped taking the pill I gained all the weight back that I had lost while on YAZ. Don't know if that helps, but that was just my experience.
Good Luck!!
