The best birth control pill I have found is YAZ. It's amazing. I reduces bloating, cramping, water weight, and shortens your period. I have tried several and this one is awesome! Good Luck!

I was writing you moms to ask a question about birth controls if you anyone takes any or knows much about them. I currently take Loestrin24FE and have noticed its a weight gain pill. I believe that when I did my research it said something about a water weight pill. After I had my son 4 1/2 months ago I shed the majority of my weight the first 6 weeks and than after I started this pill my weight has just been consistent even though I have been trying to loose the last little bit of weight. I have never had a problem loosing weight with my diet when I wanted to so this concerns me. I just wanted to know what pills help you get rid of water weight and help you loose weight instead of gaining weight and what your alls experience has been with whatever you take. Any advice or knowledge helps! Thanks alot !

A lady that I work with swears by the Nuvaring insert. She says it cancels out her period and lasts a very long time instead of the daily pill.
I don't know much other than I take Apri28 and have gained 40 pounds in the year I have been on it.
Hope to remember to look at the other advise you get because I have never weighed this much and have never had this problem of loosing weight.
Good luck...and good question!
I was really bad with pills. I used the NuvaRing. Once a week, no day to day worries. I also had no weight gain.
I take that too. I'm glad you asked the question, because it could explain my problem with not losing. Not that I'm trying that hard all the time. I usually lose well with Weight Watchers, but even with sticking to the program, I couldn't. I'll be seeing my o.b. friend next week, I'll try to remember to ask about the water weight. I hope this isn't too personal, but Have you noticed a change in your period with the pills? I don't have a period at all. Some months there is some light flow, but not every month. The O.B. says not to worry, but I was wondering if others have this experience.

I just started taking Loestrin24FE 2 months ago after being off the pill for a few years. My OB wanted me back on the pill because I was having hot flashes which he thinks may be the start to menopause for me. I have not encountered any problems with the pill so far. I haven't really noticed any weight issues, but I'm not really watching it right now. Also in response to the previous post, I have noticed that I have a VERY light period on this pill and my Dr. said that is what this pill does and that it's normal. To me it's a little different than I'm used to but I will give it a few more months and see how it goes before I change anything.
The main thing I have to say is decide which pill you want before you switch. I started with one, switched to Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo, switched to something like the first and finally ended on Jolessa. In the course of all the switching (it all took about a year), I had grown a golf ball size cyst on my ovary because of all the hormonal changes. The doctor didn't warn me and let me do all the choosing - I was ultimately trying to get rid of periods. In the end, I ended up having surgery a week ago for the cyst. Please do your homework before you choose!! There are several websites out there! Good luck!
I've been on ortho tri cyclen for at least 10 years, minus the times I was pregnant. I really like it and have never had any side effects from it. I had gained some weight right before I got pregnant with my first son. I started the pills again after I had him and ended up losing more weight than I had gained throughout my pregnancy. After my second son was born, I still had no problem losing the baby weight and now I'm the smallest I've been in years...since college actually, which was over 10 years ago.
I haven't read many of your responses yet - but here's my 2 cents worth!
I was on a version of Loestrin when I became PREGNANT the first time around! (But my oldest is 12 now!) I had a hard time with that pill (side effects: not losing the weight I was trying to, vaginal dryness, etc...) So be VERY careful - it is a LOw ESTRogen pill and that affects alot of women!
Also, several years ago, after having all my kids and my hubby being "fixed", I went on the NuvaRing to help with extremely heavy periods. I, of course, don't know about its effectiveness as BC, but it caused me to have the WORST yeast infections I'd ever had! And it was continuous for about 3 months! So I quit that and had to try other methods to control my monthly flow.
Just be sure to inform your doc if you have sensitivities like I do to these type of effects - I have heard great things about YAZ, also, but never tried it myself.
Best wishes for a happy, healthy post-baby body!
I've heard that YAZ is better. You should not gain weight on it and if you have any compexion problems it helps that too.
G.,
I am going to sound like a commercial. Run to your doctor's office and ask them about YAZ today!!! I love my Yaz. It makes me so happy. OK now that I sound like a freak I didn't gain any weight with this pill my skin is gorgeous and my periods are no big deal. Also I have no PMS. My husband had a vasectomy in September so I am suppose to get off my pill in January but I have a bad feeling they will have to rip the YAZ from my cold dead hands. Or it is very possible no one will be able to live with me after I get off from it and I can continue taking it forever and ever.
Contrary to popular belief, weight gain may not actually be a side effect of Loestrin 24 Fe. This eMedTV segment further explores the link between Loestrin 24 Fe and weight gain, and offers some tips for weight loss.
You can read more about it here.

I also did a google search with: Loestrin24FE + weight gain
Tons of sites came up.
You can also ask your pharmacist about it.
