My son is a december birthday so we did a party for his 4 1/2 this S. because he wanted to have friends over and play outside.

We went with a simple backyard playdate...with about 40 people! I set up our blow-up pool, borrowed an extra water table and put sprinklers around. I told the parents to have them wear swimsuits and bring towels, water bottles and chairs. We set out squirt guns, beach balls, dive sticks, frisbees, boats, trucks, sidewalk chalk, etc. for everyone to play with.

For snack we had ice cream sundaes. They were a hit! To make it easy for me, I set up the ice cream inside and asked each mom to come in and scoop for her own child(ren). Then, all of the toppings were on a table outside for the kids to do themselves. They were a mess but that's what water play is for, right? And I could hose off the patio later.

We also had a pinata from target b/c my son had his heart set on one.

With a big group and water everywhere, I made it very clear from the beginning with the first email that this was an outside party. No kids inside except for potty breaks and no inside toys outside. And I had each mom stay since there was going to be water around and we needed a lot of supervision.

Everyone had a wonderful time. Since it was *just* 4 1/2, we obviously didn't do presents or sing or anything. Most of the kids thought it was just a fun ice cream/water playdate. Very easy and loads of fun!

Hope your little girl enjoys her day!

giant sponges. try to move the water from one bucket to another bucket by sopping it up with the sponge and squeezing it out into the other bucket. Throw wet sponges back and forth. (No water balloon mess to clean up!)
