We are going to have a small party for my daughter's 4th birthday at home. She wanted a Strawberry Shortcake party, so I made invites and bought plates & napkins with Strawberry Shortcake on them. Other than that, I don't have any activities planned for the party. My daughter will be the youngest, with the other six kids ranging in age from 4 to 10. The oldest two are boys. So I need some ideas for a craft and game(s) to keep a wide range of kids entertained. I know that eventually they will just go play with toys, and the older boys will play video games, but I want to start out with some organized activities. I need suggestions for fun indoor things for all ages. I am also looking for food ideas other than pizza or sub sandwiches, which is what we've done in the past. There will be about 16 people total.

What can I do next?

Well the "new" Strawberry Shortcake is all about Berry Bitty City so you could play off of that. I can't keep straight what each girl does, but one of them has a dance studio so you could do a Plum Pudding (or whoever) dance contest. Orange (maybe?) owns a boutique so you could have a bracelet or necklace making station, Strawberry owns a cafe so you could do a cookie or cupcake decorating station. You could also get a couple of the books and read them one or two of the books before you begin to set the stage.

For food, I'd make it all like it came from Strawberry's cafe, so have lots of strawberry stuff! If you can find a strawberry shaped cookie cutter you can make Strawberry shaped grilled cheese. I just cut them out before hand (Peppridge Farm bread works great), fill with cheese, butter each side and place on a greased cookie sheet. Then when it's time to eat pop them in the oven for a few minutes to melt and they are perfect. You could fruit kabobs with strawberries, blueberries, pineapple, etc. on a skewer. An easy fruit dip is equal parts marshmallow fluff and cream cheese. You could also do mini quiches, small bowls or cups of soup (which you could have in the crock pot and adults would probably love this), chips or pretzels, rolls, crackers, etc....basic cafe food.

I would keep everything on the berry theme-as long as no kids are allergic or anything. So, strawberry ice cream or smoothies; the kids could make their own "berry" smoothie and choose what goes in it. You could have bagels or crakers with strawberry cream cheese. PBJ with strawberry jam! Ok, maybe I'm going over board...
Could you make something that looks like leaves in a strawberry patch and then pin the strawberries on it? (Like pin the tail on the donkey) or something else related to that? Any kind of matching game is usually a hit or games like Bingo, indoor relay race from one point to the other...something like that. Most of all-Have Fun!
