Birthday Party Favors - Rowlett,TX

I am a big believer in Simpler is better. One year for my son's birthday party, I bought cellophane goody bags at walmart ($1 for 20) and filled each one with a sticker sheet, a granola bar, and a kool-aid squeezie bottle. Then, I tied a helium latex balloon to each one. The bags/balloons were placed around the room for decorations, then as the party guests left they got to take one bag/balloon. Served double duty and I didn't have to clean up the balloons after the party.

How about a recipe to make MUD or some kind of MUD PIE and then a little hot wheel truck. Like they make for Hot Coco/brownies...all you have to do is add milk?? You can put the ingred. in a favor bag and a tag to tell the reciepe with the truck hangin on the outside by a ribbion.

Michaels craft store has a great dollar bin for outdoor toys, you can fill a bucket and fill it with shovels, forks, and trucks.

If you have not did the cake yet, my friend took a HUGE toy dump truck and filled it with choc. cupcakes, frosted them and sprinkled oreo crumbs over them to make it look like dirt.

I'm not a fan of party favors for kids' parties. BUT- what about a coloring book? The dollar store generally has lots to choose from.

Low $$ gift cards. McDonalds is always a hit! My daughter has gotten multiple $5 gift cards from McD's and we love them. We'll be giving them out at her party this year.

Not sure of the age of your son, but my 3 y.o. loves those little Hot Wheels Monster Trucks (about $3 at Walmart). Cheap, easy, simple ..... and it's not really a throw away toy like the plastic junk you get in those party favor packs (yuck). BTW, my son's BFF collects those crazy trucks and has about 50 of them and even knows all their names! They are a huge hit w/ little boys :-).

Here are a few ideas for party favors-

1- Art Supplies- Crayons/pencils/finger paints/coloring books
2- Play dough/ cookie cutters/ plastic knives/ small plastic animals/dinosaurs/cars etc.
3- Books about vehicles/ Books on tape
4-Bubbles/ Sand toys including small bucket/shovels/water wheel

5- Outdoor toys, like Balls, frizbee etc

Since when is party favors a requirement? When didn't get them when we were kids. In this economy I say the party favor is the fact that the children get to go to a bounce house place for FREE!!!

When we were growing up, just being invited to a party was favor enough!

Give each child a hot wheels truck ( if it's age appropriate)

I buy the 1/2 bags of the confetti popcorn from mom & pop's on the square in McKinney for about a $1 and do that as a party favor. I will add a rock candy stick to it sometimes. It's small, edible and not something cheap that will be thrown away. BTW, I really like the idea someone gave you to do cds of your child's favorite music. I know that's something my kids would love to get. I've done that for Christmas favors and have been told a year later how much it is enjoyed. Plus, it's a reminder each time it's played. Good luck.

Why don't you do T-shirts with Trucks on it. Get the shirts at Michael's or Hobby Lobby and then a Truck stamp and fabric paint. you could put "johnny's 1st birthday: and the truck in the middle.
It is pretty inexpensive.

For my son's 2nd birthday, we made CDs of his favorite songs and gave one to each kid. People really seemed to enjoy it - so much that a couple of his friends did the same things for their bdays later that year. We even put pictures of my son on the CD.

well, i wonder what the theme is to the party...i had a similar question earlier this month, and (with my daughter's olivia the pig theme this year), came up with inexpensive watercolor paint sets...because she loves to paint masterpieces and such LOL. i'm gonna put a tag that i'll make on the computer and print out and attach around it with ribbon. another example, my nephew last year, had a star wars themed party. they made "light sabers"...just buy a bunch of pool noodles, cut them into thirds (or halves, depending on the length you want), and use silver duct tape and black tape to make them look like sabers. you can just do one unique favor like that...

it's kind of hard sometimes to think of something like that, isn't it? lol, it took me forever to come up with something!...soooo, after all that, can i ask again - what is the theme?

you can use a favor that reflects the theme, even tho you are at a bounce house. that's what another child's family i know did. they went to an indoor bounce house place and used scooby doo for the theme. they used a coloring book. maybe you could go to the dollar store and find a trucks coloring book and cheap (non toxic) crayons? or party city always has good stuff too ;)...hmm, lemme think, and i'll be back!

At my granddaughters last birthday my daughter bought little journals at the dollar store. she put them in a little bag with pens and thank you notes for each child to take home. My granddaughter wrote out thank you's to each child for coming to celebrate her special day and they were put with the journals.

My daughter just turned 3 and had an Up themed party (the Disney movie). I found some coloring pages online of the characters in the movie and printed them out. Then I bought a school folder for each kid (the kind with the tabs in the middle, 50 cents each) and put the pages in there. I printed out a picture for the front of each folder with the child's name. So basically, they got a coloring book of sorts. Walmart also has little packs of crayons. I had leftover Up tattoos from her Valentine's Day cards and included those with the coloring book. If you already have a printer and paper you can do this favor very cheap.

One party favor we loved was a balloon with a bag of specially made trail mix attached to it. The mom had gone to the store and found all sorts of favorite snacks, some sweet and some salty (mini cheese cracker sandwiches, pretzels, raisins, m&m's or choc chips, goldfish crackers, chex mix, etc.- be creative!); she mixed it all together and put them in little cute decorative bags (like a cellophane bag or other treat bag) and tied them to the balloons. Every kid loves balloons, and balloons are only meant to last a few days; and the snack mix was a great afternoon snack one day. Like I said, you could tailor it to fit what kids are coming and what allergies you want to avoid.

For my son's b-day, we gave out those large bubble wands you can get at Wal-Mart. At my daughter's b-day, we gave out clear bags filled with sidewalk chalk, playdough & fruit snacks. All useful things that won't just get tossed out. :)

Summer is around the corner, so what about things that a kid could use in the summer such as sample size of sun block, waterbottle, electronic fan/water mister.

When my son turned 4 we had his party at the fire station and I gave books that had something to do with firemaen or a firehouse. Everyone loved them. I bought a bunch onlie at 3.95 which was probably the same as a bag of junk I would put together.

you could get little trucks, I always do a little set of crayons and a little activity book, which the kids always like.

Sidewalk chalk and bubbles are a favorite, and can be bought in bulk pretty cheap. We also decorate with balloons and each child gets to take one home, which they love! Have a fun party!

something as simple as one of those "take and toss" plastic sippy ncups stuffed with Tonka Truck Fruit snacks...what child doesn't like fruit snacks? They're special treats around my house :)
