I'm looking for good ideas for a 3 year old birthday party. I don't want anything too extravagant but am looking for an interactive activity for my daughter and her friends. I'm open to having the party at a location or at our house. I appreciate any fun ideas. Thanks!

Jungle Jill was awesome and came to my home.... she has a website. Imagination Ave in Paradise Valley is a fun fun place for this age. Over all, We did Rainbow party at 3 years old. Everyone came as a color in the Rainbow and we pinned the cloud on the rainbow. Got a rainbow blow up pool for inside and played games inside. We got a craft to do of a rainbow wind-sock out of foam. Rainbow cake. You can do all this with crayons too.....

My daughter just turned two and is on a butterfly/anything with wings kick. I gave her a peter pan themed party. I found wings on ebay for cheap (about 3 bucks per wing) and a hook, patch and pirate hat for the boys. The kids really enjoyed the costumes.

We just had a dress-up party for my daughter's third birthday. It was so much fun!! We didn't have much money, so I only invited a few friends and family members.

I ordered ribbon tutus, feather boas and princess crowns off of Ebay. I got 12 of each item. For everything it was under $40! I can give you the seller's name if you would like-I was a very satisfied customer. I bought some Mardi Gras beads for necklaces and bought stuff to give the girls a makeover. Grandma did pedicures, Auntie did the girls hair, I did the makeup (blush, eyeshadow and they each got a chapstick that I had bought after Christmas on clearance) A few boys RSVP'd at the last minute, so I ran to the dollar store and bought foam crowns and wands. I bought some boy stickers and let them decorate their items while the girls had their makeovers. It was really low key and relaxed. No goody bags, as they all got to take home their dress up items, which turned out to be less money than my usual goody bags:)

I made mini sandwiches, had a fruit platter, a veggie platter and some large pretzel sticks. I made a small cake with a crown on the top and pink and purple mini cupcakes with no frosting (less mess, less sugar and no leftovers!) Everyone still talks about getting their toes done and how much fun they had.

If that sounds like too much work, check out Jennifer's Party Pad on Gilbert and Warner. Cute atmosphere, wonderful parties and a wonderful owner! www.jenniferspartypad.com

E.,
This is my field!!! I love throwing parties for the kids. I have a million ideas .... but lets limmit it:) Does she like animals? My son loves all kinds of animals, so I had a pet party. We painted faces or put those animal noses on and bought some ears from the party store. (cheap) We played pet games ...exp catch the ball ... find the mouse(hide anything).... use your imagination. But the thing they remember the most was I served the cake and icecream in bowls on the floor....clean floor..... they got to eat it with no spoons or forks. They ate it like a real pet. I know it sounds outragouse but it was 5 years ago and they still talk about how fun that party was. I have more crazy ideas if you want.
Good luck

A few places I've had/been to parties at for my son are Build-a-Bear at Chandler Mall, Toy Town in Awatukee ###-###-####), Shamrock Farms (but it's quite a drive), Chuck E Cheese, As You Wish and Jeepers to name a few. Not all of them are an activity but a play to play. I really liked Toy Town. We had my sons 2nd birthday party there. Their website is www.aztoytown.com. A lot will depend on how much yo want to spend too. Some places can get a bit pricy.

I love the dress up party idea someone else mentioned too.

Jumping Party....DeDe, the owner, has a coupn on here for birthday parties. My friend just had her 2 year old's party there and it was a blast. I take my almost three year old there weekly for a mom's group I put together. They have a blast.

If you would rather have it at home, we have done a bounce house in the backyard. I paid $75 for 24 hours. Had to pick it up, set it up, and drop it off, but it was sooooo easy. Let me know if you would like the name of this place.

Hi E.,
Check out www.imaginationavenue.us for our party details. :) Imagination Avenue is perfect for 3 year olds and is the most reasonable indoor party place in the valley (and we are air conditioned!). You can actually enjoy your guests since the kiddos are entertained and you'll have 2 party specialists doing all the serving, cleaning, etc. The party packages include food for the kiddos, all paper goods for both kids and adults, each kiddo leaves with a balloon, the guest of honor gets a return pass to go back and play at Imagination Avenue. You can have as many adults as you like to come to the party too (no extra charge). We are in the NW corner of 32nd. & Shea, just off the 51. Call ###-###-#### if you have any questions, the website does have details and pictures but we are happy to answer any additional questions. If you are interested and call, be sure to mention mamasource and you get $10.00 off party package A or $20.00 off party package B.

Have a great rest of the week! And best of luck with your party planning. )

When my daughter turned 3 we had a”Princess Party”. All the Guests came dressed in their own “Princess Dress” we even had a boy come dressed as a knight! We took two sheet cakes and constructed a castle cake w/ Sugar cones for the towers. I had one of her cousins draw a picture of Cinderella and we played pin the shoe on Cinderella. We played pass the poisoned apple. The most work went into creating our own Memory game with princess clip art and construction paper. The party was cost effective, just a little effort and 3 years later the girls still all talk about that party.

Maybe have it at the zoo? Take a few friends and pack a cooler with lunch, the Phoenix zoo will let you bring in your own lunch and let you reserve picnic tables.

Or at my daughters last birtday we had it at home, I bought small ceramic flower pots for 44cents each, had the kids paint them, then we ate pizza and fruit salad while they dried, after eating we planted some pansy flowers in them, next we openend presents, then had make your own ice cream sundaes and decorate your own cupcakes. I did it inside because it was so windy outside, I just had each kid sit on a flattened out carboard box (we had recently moved in, so I had quite a few boxes), but you could have them sit on old towels or get a tarp to cover the whole floor. I of course used washable paint, that you can get at the craft store or the craft section at WalMart. Also I was sure to let the parents of the kids know this was going to be a "messy" party and not to dress them up in their pretty party dresses.

USA Youth Fitness is opening a new gymnastics facility on the NW corner of Gilbert and Ray, if you are close to there. It should be open by the end of June. The have a special pre-school area with miniaturized equiment for little kids (bars, beam, rings, trampoline, and foam pit, etc...). There's even a restroom with miniature toilet for them. What's nice is if you have older kids (or parents too) coming, they can play on the big equipment, and not be bored. The coaches will organize any games you want or obstacle courses. It's lots of fun. They offer B-Day parties every Saturday and Sunday afternoon/evenings. Give them a call ###-###-####.

We just went to a party at Bounce U. The kids had a great time and they do everything for you. The parents did have to set-up, clean-up, serve food, cut cake or anything.
