Blackout Draperies or Liners for Nursery

Anybody out there buy those blackout liners to use behind your curtains? My 5 month old daughter is waking up earlier than normal & I think it may be because the sun is rising earlier & she has a gigantic arched window in her room. I had bought drapes to match her room, & I keep them drawn at night, plus she has blinds on the window, but the sun shines right through the top arch. Wondering if anybody can recommend what I can do? I am afraid that the room will be too dark & she will sleep later than I would like her to!

What can I do next?

They make a fan-type blind that will cover the arch ($$$), or you could try just a decorative fan (cheap in Chinatown) stuck up there for the time being and take it down when she is no longer a daytime napper.

If you want to time her waking more precisely, darken the room completely and then get one of those natural light alarm clocks that cycles from dim to bright light over 30 min (fully bright at target wakeup time.)

I got mine at Pottery Barn Kids. I've seen them at Walmart and Bed, Bath&Beyond too.

They sell black-out liner at fabric stores. I can't sew, so it's pretty much just taped onto the curtains. But it works!

I bought some and they do make the room dark. Just make sure that they fit your window well. Mine i got at a store that sells odd sizes and didn't realize that the panels where small. So light gets in. I have 2 kids that like to play with them so it doesn't help either.

Like one of the other posters said - considerig your curtains do match the nursery you can go to hancock fabrics or joanns and get blackout material and sew it on the back of your curtains. I made my own for our media room and saved a ton of money. Also - if you have a coupon you can get 50% off 1 cut of material.

But - they do make the room dark - but you can always wake her up when you want her too. It's better that they are sleeping soundly than not sleeping.
