Another question for you. I just started bleeding after sex - quite a bit - and I don't know what it is from. It happened everytime I had sex for the past 5 days. I am concerned because it is enough that I need to wear a pad for about 12 hours afterward. Not to mention that it totally sucks and ruins the moment :) I am not on any BC because we are ttc. If it matters, I am on day 24 of my 30 day cycle.
Anyway, I called my doctor and spoke to the nurse there, but she said that it's normal. She was acting as though I was really dumb for even asking, but It doesn't seem normal to me. I asked for an appointment anyway, and they couldn't schedule it for another 2 months. So, just wondering if anyone experienced this before. Should I be worried?
To clarify - it was my ob/gyn that I scheduled with. Thanks!
I have never heard of bleeding after sex... and my girlfriends and sisters and i are very open...lol! I really would get a new ob/gyn. Something could be wrong and waiting 2 months is horrible! I wish you luck.
Bleeding after sex can be normal for some it depends was there any foregin objects used that entered the vagina if yes well there is your answer.Was your hubby a bit on the rough side that can cause your vagina to swell be tender and can bleed if he used his fingers let him know to trim his nails before doing that again he may have scratched your vaginal wall causing you to tear and bleed.But if all else fails bleeding after sex can mean that there is something more going on such as cyst's,uterine fibroids,an STD,have you had a pap smear recently if not I would get one.
This happened to me. Turns out that I had a bacterial infection. Your regular dr. should be able to run some tests so that you don't have to wait 2 months.

I used a diaphragm for bc in the past. I always had blood that tipped out of the uterus. My doc at the time said that this was normal. It was spotting for a couple of hours max.
Years later, when my endo symptoms were getting really bad, I was bleeding a lot during and after sex. There was pain, so I figure this can't be the case with you.
My aunt had bad fibroids that caused the kind of bleeding that you have. I don't know how quickly the symptoms started for her, though. I believe that fibroids can be seen with an intravaginal ultrasound at your ob/gyn.
Outside of this, I'm at a loss. Good luck at the appointment!
I would ask your doctor to refer you to someone else if he can't make time to see you. this is not normal unless your having sex during your period. bleeding after it is not normal.
I would keep track of it - also see if it starts after other activity. I had this problem and I started to notice after other activities as well - raking leaves, etc. It turned out to be a simple band of tissue that was removed - all this was detected by ultrasound. Good Luck
This did happen to me a while ago. Turns out it was fibroids. The OBGYN told me that when they grow and are irritated they can cause bleeding. However, it coudl be somethign other thatn that. I'd call every day tothe OB & ask if there's cancellation. Sometimes they can fit you in if you're persistant.
I would say that if this is something new, then it is not normal. When you say doctor, is it your internist or your OB/GYN? I would try to schedule an appointment with your GYN as soon as possible. Ask them to call you when there is a cancellation.
I would fire my GYN if I had this experience-- that is totally unacceptable service and I would make sure the doctor knew that was the advice (and the attitude) being given out over the phone. I would not wait 2 months to be seen-- if for no other reason than it is going to freak you out for 2 months, and there is no reason for that. Go to Med Express (or some other doc in the box) and get examined. I've never been at Med Express for more than 1 hour from the time I walk in until I walk out. You can at least get an exam and maybe an ultrasound.
I agree about finding a new OB/GYN, this could be a sign of a serious problem and they should have fit you in within a week.
Also, a PP mentioned using Vitamin E oil or Coconut oil in the vagina--this is a very bad idea. Any oil inserted in the vagina will be difficult to remove and can cause pockets where bacterial infection can grow. Also Vitamin E can be very irritating in its pure form on the skin, let alone a thinner membrane like the vaginal mucosa.

I just looked it up and found this: Diagnosing vaginal bleeding after sex is usually a matter of exclusion. Anytime you experience post-coital bleeding or vaginal bleeding after sex see your physician.
It also gave several reasons for bleeding, which all included an infection, polyps or STD's, fibroid tumors.
I would make an appointment and actually talk to your Dr, not the nurse. I think Nurses sometimes think they are Dr's but they are not.
