Hi J.,
Minor bleeding happens a lot, very scary, but nothing they are going to help you with, except tell you that you need bed rest. During my third pregnancy, at about ten weeks, I started gushing blood. It was so much, it was running down my legs and I couldn't change the pads fast enough. I thought I was losing my baby. When I called my ob, the first question they asked was if I had any cramping. I did NOT!! They just told me to go to the hospital, so I did. They did an ultrasound and found that the baby was fine and bouncing around, but my placenta has significantly separated from the uterus. They told me that I needed bed rest, and like you, that, if I was going to miscarry, there was nothing they could do. With two toddlers at home, or three if you count my ex-husband, that was not going to happen, but I want you to know that if I mispelled something during this note, it's because the baby from that pregnancy, my two year old daughter, is trying to get me away from the computer LOL!!!
I would say monitor your blood flow. If it's bright red, it's fresh blood. Darker red to browninsh blood, it's been there a while. If you get cramps call your ob, of go to the hospital. It's really sad and it kills you inside when they tell you there's nothing they can do, but at least you may have an idea of what's going on. I hope this helps you and I'll be thinking about you!
I wish you the best of luck with your little ones!
