I am 9 weeks pregnant and wednesday I was at work and all of the sudden felt like I had started my period. I ran to the restroom and found that I was bleeding just like I had started my period. I called the dr immediatly and the saw me right then and did a ultrasound. I thought for sure that was it and I had miscarried, but turned out the baby was fine and everything looked good. So they said that it happens sometimes and doesn't mean I wont miscarry but right now they said the baby is in no danger. So now it is Saturday and I am still spotting and worried. has anyone ever had this happen? and if so what happened? any reasons why it happens?? I have been told by some friends that if i was going to miscarry that it would have already happened and isn't a drawn out process.

What can I do next?

I spotted for 6 months; it was very scary! I kept in contact with my dr. - I think I had sonograms nearly every 3 weeks. I called everytime I spotted. I remember being told to take it easy & rest. I can speak from experience it all went fine & I had a beautiful, healthy little girl. The hard part (which I couldn't do was relax), take it slow & get plenty of rest. Remember your dr. is there to help you, so call anytime. I realize this is not easy with a 3 yr. old, is there someone to help? It's easier said than done; but it you can relax & stay calm I think you'll be fine.
Good Luck & God Bless!

I bled at nine weeks while I was pregnant with my son. It started on a Friday, and lasted for two days. I went to the ER, and a sonogram was done, as well as checking the heartbeat. All was fine, but I was put on bedrest for the weekend until I could check with my own doctor. By the time I got to the dr. on Monday, there was no bleeding and they couldn't find out why I bled. My doctor said that sometimes the embryo pushes it's way in deeper, and can cause light bleeding. I had a normal pregnancy after that, and I had a healthy son seven months later.!! Try not to worry!

C.,

I bled with both my last two pregnancies and all went fine. I know it's scarey but try not to stress - that will maybe make it worse - when I'm stressed I automatically bleed.

The exact same thing happened to me when I was pregnant with my daughter. I was really scared because I had miscarried a few months before that. For me, everything was fine. It is just one of those things that they can't explain. The difference for me between my misscariage and my pregnancy, was the bleeding and cramping, and it lasted about 3-4 days. With the misscarry, I had really bad cramping and A LOT of blood. With my full-term preg, it was more spotting and no cramping, and it lasted a week or 2. Hope all is well (sounds like it will be).

My heart goes out to you, I know how helpless you feel right now. I had bleeding with both of my pregnancies. With my son it was very heavy and very scary, it was much more than a little spotting. After two years of trying to have a baby, I thought for sure I was having a miscarriage. The bleeding lasted almost three months. I was put on "pelvic rest" (which basically means no sex) and told to take it easy. They tested my HCG levels weekly in the beginning and I had several sonograms. They could see blood pooling in my uterus on the sonograms, but they never could determine the cause. We went on to have a healthy baby boy with no further complications. And I just gave birth to our daughter a little over a week ago. With her I had spotting, it was much milder and lasted for a shorter time. But with her I had severe cramping and discomfort. This time they found a huge cyst on my ovary (larger than a grapefruit). They said that definitely accounted for the pain and they think it caused the spotting. The cyst went away on it's own and our pregnancy worked out just fine. I know it is scary and hearing all these stories won't put your mind totally at ease, but maybe it will help you a little. Get some rest, try not to stress yourself out. I know this is all easier said than done! Please take care. Our thoughts are with you.

I know exactly what you are going through!!

I started bleeding in my 1st pregnancy at 6 1/2 weeks. It started with bright red blood and, like you, I thought for sure I was mc'ing. For my ENTIRE 1st trimested I had everything from brown spotting to filling a maxi in a matter of minutes (so very scary!). I finally stopped bleeding around 13 weeks and I went on to have a healthy baby! My doctor said that bleeding like that comes from blood vessels trying to attach to the uterine wall and leaking blood. It pools for a little while and then leaks out. Scary, but usually benign.

That being said, and I don't want to scare you, but I want to make you aware of what one doctor told me about the bleeding. Sometimes bleeding in the 1st trimester can be an indicator of placental problems in the 3rd trimester. Since I bled in the 1st and my triple screen was off, my dr said that I was at high risk for placental problems and started watching me VERY close starting the 1st week of my 1st trimester (did a sono). By the 2nd week of my 1st trimester I had low amniotic fluid so he put me on modified bed rest. I truely believe that if he weren't so on top of things we wouldn't have caught it so early and it could had been trouble or I would had to been hospitalized. Like I said, I don't want to scare you, but I want you to be aware so you can watch more closely later on.

It really sounds like your baby is doing fine. Take it easy as much as possible!! Good luck!!
