F.A.
We had this with my daughter at the same age. She was OK with the patches but after a while they were not improving things any more so the eye doctor gave us the drops to use instead.
She hated having them put in as she said they were stinging, so we actually put them in at night while she was asleep - as I recall they just had to be put in once every 24 hrs so we went in after she was asleep, pulled up her eyelid and inserted the drops and she never woke up.
She has no bad reaction to them and was able to carry on her life and play as normal.
The down side is that she had poor vision all the time and did complain she couldn't see pictures etc in books. She had very good vision in her good eye and poor sight in the bad eye so when she has both eyes she can see very well but as soon as the good one is blurred her overall vision in bad. The eye patch of course did the same thing but she was only wearing that a couple of hours a day whereas with the drops it is all the time.
In the end there was no further improvement with the drops so we stopped using them.
Now she is 8 and although the vision in the poorer eye is still not great she is not in the least held back by it, so I am just trying not to worry too much!
