My son loves hi-ho cherrio, chutes and ladders, go fish, scatter-pillar, hungry hippos, puzzles! There are great big floor puzzles that van then be a huge board game (we have "snakes and ladders")
I love to play games. Other than MEMORY, what other games do 3 yr old boys really like? I did an amazon search for games and there are TONS with GREAT reviews (Ruckus, Slamwich, Spot It, Quirkle, Frog Juice, a lot more with weird names), but I would love to have an idea of what's best for an early 3 yr old. Any ROBOT games out there? (He loves robots).
Thanks in advance!
I had totally forgotten about Candyland and Chutes & Ladders. Before I buy those I plan to see if my parents have my old one or perhaps shop thrift stores. They do have a "marvel super heroes' Chutes & Ladders (spider man, the hulk, IRON MAN (*robot!*) so I may have to get that one. Sounds like I definitely need Hi-Ho Cherrio. I plan a trip to Target this week. Those Eric Carle games sound nice. I love his books. I bought the Ladybug game online via Amazon today after reading online reviews and talking with Mallory via PM. That caterpillar game and Break the Ice game sound fun too. Will give one of those a try here soon too.
You ladies have given me so many ideas. I appreciate it so much. I don't know why I've gone so long w/o playing games like this with my son. He just wants to role-play and use his imagination. I hadn't really thought about board games. But I love them and that'd give us something else to do around the table (since another post of mine was about not eating dinner at the dinner table). Anyways -- THANKS!

what about candy land?? Chute's and ladders?? those are the first two that pop into my head.....
You HAVE to get him the Ladybug game...I guarantee he will love it. It is one of those random games you think you are the only one who knows about only to find out it is everyone you know's children's favorite. They sell it at Target.
Also-they used to make these puzzles where after you build the puzzle you pick from a card deck to look for items in the puzzle and circle them with a dry erase. Got those at Target too.
Have you ever read Brown Bear Brown Bear or Panda Bear Panda Bear by Eric Carle? We love those books and there is a really easy game based on those books that my son loved when he was younger. The game is called Brown Bear Panda Bear What do you see. You can find it on amazon, I can't say enough good about it :) We also liked the Fisher Price Matchin' Middles game. The other suggestions are good too, Candy Land, Hi Ho Cherry O, Hungry Hippos, etc. We also liked "Let's Go Fishin", Mr. Mouth, and Word Whammer.
My girls love games as well. Can't help you with Robot games, but try: connect four, dominoes, Candyland Castle, Candyland, checkers, Hi Ho Cherry-o, etc. Great way to spend a hot summer afternoon! Also, only play until his interest wanes. And other
My son loves Candyland Castle. I am going to try regular Candyland and Chutes and ladders next week though.
busytown makes a great one, the game board is 4ft
My kids are 17and 20, so I'm sure there's a bunch of new ones since they were that age, but they liked chutes and ladders, clue Jr.(their very fav), and candyland. discovery toys had some delightful ones too although they really weren't "games" as such......my son LOVED marbleworks....
My 3 year old son loves Don't Break the Ice. It's funny to see him try not to knock the bear down.
What about the classics Candyland and Chutes and Ladders. They have themed ones of these periodically, so you might be able to find a Robot one. Hi-Ho Cherrio is a great one.
My friend plays Candy Land with her 3 year old daughter.
