My oldest teen is wanting to read a book something similar to the show Castle. So basically crime solving but with a little humor. Anyone have any suggestions? Something that will keep his attention.

What can I do next?

Is he an animal lover, by any chance? Try the "Cat Who...." books, by Lillian Jackson Braun. They are lightweight crime novels, about a newspaper reporter (Qwill) who solves crimes, and is often inspired by how to find clues by watching his cat (Koko the Siamese). I read them as a teen - a bit formulaic, but the characters are enjoyable. Particularly if you like cats. Start with "The Cat Who Could Read Backwards." Beware, though: the first book was first published in 1966, so there isn't much reference to fancy technology (Qwill won't be calling the CSIs for a DNA test!).

If your teen is still in high school, have his talk to his English (or here its called Language Arts) for recommendations. My son's teacher has awesome recommendations-books even I have enjoyed.

I glanced at the answers and don't see anyone recommending the Richard Castle books. The show is based on the books.

Also, Karin Slaughter books are good (crime solving, but relatively clean).

Good luck,
L.

I have a male friend that really likes reading the James Bond book series. Also, John Grisham as an author tends to have crime mysteries, but I don't have a specific book for you...

I myself like my books with a little more romance lol
