Gone Girl is really good and a great vacation read. Its not chick lit though so avoid if thats what you like.
We are about to go on a vacation without the kids!! I'm looking for book recommendations to load onto my Kindle. i want something entertaining, not too heavy, something I can read easily while on planes and trains. any thoughts??
Thanks!

Have you read S#!T my dad says? It is hilarious. Also some of Nora Roberts Trilogies are really good if you want some funny, romantic, exciting and entertaining reading.

:-)
the 50 shades series. i have read all 3 books and couldnt put them down. i also enjoy janet jovanovich i havent read her books but i have listened to her books on tape!
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society is one of my favorite books. Also, Let's Pretend This Never Happened (A Mostly True Memoir) by the bloggers Jenny Lawson is taking me forever to read because I spend so much time laughing and re-reading everything. It is hilarious! Jude Devereaux is one of my favorite authors and anything by her is great, but the Summerhouse books are my favorite. Have fun!!!!!
Anything by Jen Lancaster- she is hilarious. You can check out her blog first to see if you like her. http://www.jennsylvania.com/
I also love Elin Hilderbrand. Perfect vacation reads.
Stacey Ballis is a good author too- chick lit stuff. Same with Jennifer Weiner.
Enjoy your vacation!
I loved the Shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella. It's light reading and very funny! I think there are about 5 books so far in the series. If you saw the Shopaholic movie made a few years back, just know that the books are alot better!!
Hard to recommend without knowing your reading preferences and what you have already read. You are going on a vaca without the kids, so everyone is heating their love lives up with the "Shades of Gray" trilogy this summer, although it wasn't my cup of tea. I love Jennifer Cruisie, her books are romantic but hilarious with very real female characters who have just gotten themselves into a mess and usually a very handsome and wonderfully sexy situation gets it all fixed up :) Lorna Lanvik writes great characters, too....Angry Housewives Eating Bonbons is still one of my favorite "brain candy" books. The Janet Evanovich series is actiony and fun without a lot of brain exercise. My book club would hate all these recommendations! For anything serious, I have that list, too! I just don't choose to take those on a romantic vacation with my hubby!
I'm reading Best Friends Forever by Jennifer Weiner. It's pretty good-light but still an interesting story.
For romance I loved "Thoughtless" & "Effortless" by S C Stephens
Right now I am reading a series called "Wool" this edition has all 5 in 1 http://www.amazon.com/Wool-Omnibus-Edition-Hugh-Howey/dp/...
They are GREAT!!!!!!
I loved The Spellman Files by Lisa Lutz about a family of private investigators. It's more about family drama than investigating and the dry humor is totally up my alley. All the other Spellman books after that were good as well. Very funny.
Many of these books might sound heavy but to me they were easy reads.
Hannah: A Fictional Life Account of the Youngest Child Executed in U.S. History - Sonya Dickerson - picked it up for free and read it in under an hour.
Sweetly Undauntable, Our Mother's Legacy - Ruth Chan - free and finished in 2 hours with taking periodic breaks.
A Short Walk on a Cold Night with a Dead Friend - Jim Haffner
Orange Car With Stripes - Tom Lichtenberg
Love anything by Lisa Jackson
