My 6 year old son has ALREADY breezed through all of the summer reading books I have purchased for him. His last three were the first three in the series of Diary of a Wimpy Kid. (Red, blue and green covers I believe). Are there more of those types of books you can suggest? I am looking for something long enough to hold him for a few days at least. Those wimpy kid books I think were over 200 pages and he went through them in a day! And we even "quizzed" him on what the book was about and he sure knew it!
So, what are your boys reading this summer? (Mine isn't into scary stuff, so Goosebumps is out).

My 7 yo loves Ron Roy A to Z mysteries. they aren't horribly long but It should keep him occupied. He likes Ellen Miles Puppy Place. and The henry Huggins books that are part of the Ramona and Beezus series. Happy Reading.
I think there is one more DoaWK book. My son loves thoses books and likes to read the Stink series. They are about Judy Moodys brother, Stink. There are quite a few of them, and have the same type of humor as Diary books.
Because of his age and reading ability (great job), please view to make sure you feel the content is appropriate.

Shredderman by Wendelin Van Draanen (there is a bully in book one secret identity but they are funny books)

Boxcar kids are great, as is the "Magic Treehouse" series..... They are shorter books, though, and he may just zoom through those, also. They say RL 3, but are less than 100 pages.
Check out your local library... much cheaper way to keep him in reading books!
Also, if he likes animals, there is a series called "Animal Ark" ... about a girl whose parents are veterinarians.
I just discovered the Clementine series (by Sarah Pennypacker) for one of my grandchildren. Would your son deign to read about a girl? The books are really fun.

Hank the Cow Dog is a fun series, and there are over 50 of those books. :)
My 7 year old has been reading those for the past year and loves them. Your son is doing a great job reading! I'm an English teacher, and I love hearing about kids who love to read! :)

Boxcar kids? Your local library should have a nice selection for him to choose from if nothing else.
My daughter is the same way; we go to the library all the time because she goes through books so quickly! There is one more Diary of a Wimpy Kid book (purple cover). Magic Tree House books are great; A to Z Mysteries; Bailey School Kids series; anything by Dav Pilkey (Captain Underpants, Ricky Ricotta's Mighty Robot, Ook and Gluk); the Time Warp Trio series by Jon Scieszka; Harry Potter series; Warriors or Seekers series by Erin Hunter (for older kids, so I'm not sure if he'd enjoy it but it's worth a try); and books by Judy Blume (Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothin, Fudge, etc.). Also my son (also six) recently discovered the "manga" style books (like comic books but longer) and I will be trying to find them at the library (they have Pokemon and the Warrior series manga books).
I second the Captain Underpants suggestion. If your son likes Star Wars, I would recommend the book called "The Strange Case of Origami Yoda" and "Darth Paper Strikes Back", both by Tom Angleberger.
*I'm jealous that your son is a reader! I love to read, and so far, he just finds it to be a waste of time, which makes me sad. Enjoy your little reader :)
There is a series of books called hank the cow dog. my son loved them. also the wayside school books are good, moody judy, any judy blume books
Artemis Fowl!!! I LOVE those books and have them set aside for when Isaac's old enough
I second the reccomendations for Magic Treehouse series. My son loves them and has read almost everyone. I enjoy reading them to/with him also. I like that that content is appropriate for his 7year old mind. Some of the books he is "able" to read, are too advanced in my opinion.
