Booster/toddler Chair

My 2 year old has outgrown her highchair but it is too short to sit in a regular chair. We are using a cheap travel booster seat but would really like something more comfortable and permanent. Does anyone have any suggestions for one that worked for them?

Thanks so much!

What can I do next?

I agree with the others that your child will just want to use the chair soon. my 2yr old (3 in dec) dislikes using her booster. I found this and it works well. if you don't want to spend the money, you can purchase bed raisers to put under the feet of your chairs also.

I have one that straps to the chair for my daughter...you can use a tray with it or scoot it up to the table.

But I also have a "cooshie booshie" which has been fantastic for this transition time. She is now three and we are using it more and more. She thinks she's so big and wants to sit in a chair like her brothers which she is completely capable of doing but she has many more spills when she's not in a booster.

The cooshie booshie doesn't have straps to keep the child secured so you will want to make sure your child has good table manner and sits still before he/she is ready for this. It's rubbery material and grips to the chair. All 3 of my kids used it around the age of 2ish and it has been great!

I got it at babiesrus.

Hope this helps!

We bought one that strapped to the chair that we used when we first transitioned out of the high chair because you could still strap the child in to the seat, but it got very cumbersome having to unstrap the chair every time we wanted to use that chair for an adult to sit in. So, we quickly switched to the Baby Smart Cooshie Booster seat which we actually bought for our first daughter. It's just a lightweight molded foam that won't slide off the chair, and it gives them just the right height to reach the table. We also use it when she wants to sit at the table to color or do crafts. However, as one person already commented, it isn't long before they don't want that extra boost, whether they can reach the table or not. So, you need to decide if you really want to spend the money. You might be able to find something on craigslist or even e-bay for a nominal amount, should you decide you can't live without something right now.
Good luck!

I would just stick with what you have now. Soon she'll be too big for a booster anyway. Save your money. My daughter will be 3 this month and hasn't used a booster in months.

I found a nice booster seat at Walmart that straps on to the chair and has a strap in the seat. I not sure why you would want it to be permanent since she won't need it permanently. My granddaughter likes her seat and will sit in it to eat and to do arts and crafts when we do that.

we got for my son one of those chair/table combo things and put him next to us at the table. He thought it was cool he was "on his own" eating. when we went to my sister's with her kids she had one of those "kids" tables so it was always the kid's table and the adult table. the kids loved the interaction and the adults loved the sanity (ate there often). once he was big enough to sit at the table he was sooo excited but sometimes we find him wanting to eat dinner at the kitchen table not the dinning table because he misses eating at his own table. personally we encourage independance and family time so we allow him to sit on his own when he feels like it (maybe once a week) and when with cousins they sit at the kitchen table, not the dinning. I know it is not for everyone but that is what works for us.

go look at them at BRU and pick out the cheapest no frills one. The more frills, the more places for food to get stuck. You can always return if you/your child don't like it.

A warning on the suggestion that you use the kid table next to yours. I've tried that with my kids, but the problem is, they can get up and leave whenever they want.
