have you tried the sippy cups with the soft spouts. its still kind of like a bottle but its not a nipple but as soft as one.
I also meant to ask if any other moms have experienced their children not being as interested in the bottle after starting baby food? Noah takes his early morning and bedtime bottles with no problem, but all the others are a constant fight to get him to drink. He has plenty of wet diapers, but I am still concerned the 2 big bottles and baby food is not enough liquid for him. I have also tried to get him to drink out of a sippy cup, but he can't figure out how to suck out of the cup. Any suggestions?
Bought a Nuby sippy cup today, and he seems to do okay getting the liquid out! May try to cut the bottles out except for first morning and bedtime feedings.

Hey,
I was just wondering....how old is your son? My daughter stopped (briefly) taking as much milk when I introduced solid food, but after a few days to a few weeks her milk intake slowly went back up until she regularly drank 4 8 oz bottles a day in addition to eating her solid food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. As her interest in solid food grew, and she seemed to be taking more (I would say around 9-10 months) I started having trouble getting her to take that 4:00 bottle, or eat and take a bottle at bed time. I began "stretching" her feeding times out over the course of about a week until that that 4:00 bottle was phased out, and she just ate three times per day. Depending on his age, maybe he's just ready to give up one of his bottles. Also, even though most folks do food and then finish up with a bottle, I found that my daughter would never take a bottle well after food, so I always gave her the bottle first and then gave her the food--she always finishes her milk and still eats A TON of her regular food to boot. If he especially enjoys food over the bottle you may want to try giving the less favorite thing first. She went from "failure to thrive" @ two months old to "above average" in both height and weight at 11 months. Obviously she is getting plenty of food and milk! :) Also, my oldest daughter (who is now three) never would take any kind of sippy cup other than a Nuby brand, because she didn't like the hard spouts. Nuby's are a soft spout that seems more similar to a bottle--it's a good transition cup, and now she will drink out of anything. You can find that brand just about everywhere, and they even have Nuby spouts that fit on bottles (I've seen those at Babies R Us), so you can even try it on the bottle for awhile and then move to the cup once he's got the hang of it. I hope these ideas help!
I really wouldn't worry about it, as long as he is getting enough food and still growing. Every child is different.
Depending on the age of the child consider it a blessing that he is weening himself. Both of my boys picked up as they got older on the bottle and I was so worried that they would not want to give it up but both times I took the bottle away on their first birthday and replaced it with a sippy cup and both transitioned just fine.If the child is not close to his 1st birthday then talk to the ped. but if he doesn't seem dehydrated the table foods may be holding his hunger better than you think.
Hi! do you think it could be the formula..? as a peds. nurse we find that babies w/ constipation issues are always on a formula and not breastfeed. Prune juice will help if he likes it a 50/50 mix is recomended and I guess you could always put it in a bottle that he's used to . best wishes Zoe's mama
I dont know if you've tried the Nuby sippy cups from Walmart. They have some that are "sport bottles" that have a soft spout that resembles a nipple. Thats what my daughter started out on for a sippy. Honestly I dont know how you feel about the bottle, but this could be a good transition time to start taking the bottle away. If he's not so interested in it during the day, I personally wouldnt push it.
