If you have replaced your before bedtime routine of nursing, with a sippy cup of milk or other liquid, which sippy cup do you use? Since our little one is 13 months old, it feels kind of weird introducing her to a bottle (she never took one, so she has no experience). She does use a sippy cup but the ones with the straws are the ones I introduced early on, so that's what she knows...it seems like it would be awkward to have her drinking from a straw while in my arms. She probably could use the spout kind at this point...Almost every sippy cup I've ever tried says "leak proof" but is not, and I've had to throw out several mildewy straws, etc. I want to cuddle with her at night, sing, still keep all the same closeness, but try giving her warm milk...I just don't know what to put it in that will be comfortable for her to hold and that won't spill on us. She's not a big drinker as it is so I can't see her guzzling down a cup of milk, but I sure am going to try.

I've also noticed that some are not "replacing" the before bed nursing with any liquid at all...just eliminating it and that's that. So, I'm not sure whether giving her milk before bed is even a good idea...maybe I'll just try to give her dinner about 30 minutes before bed, to be sure she's going to sleep with a full belly.
Playtex or gerber both are very good. I have had many different cups and each child, my youngest is now on playtex and gerber cups but I had to start with the nub cups.

This was (and is) my favorite sippy cup for both of my kids. They didn't like the rubbery tops or soft tops, and they were both nursed as well. I've not had issues with them spilling, and my daughter still uses them and she is 3. They are by The First Years. Good luck!

That is wonderful that you've nursed for so long!! Way to go!! I definitely wouldn't introduce a bottle to her. We used the Nuby and My First Year Sippy cups and never had a problem with them leaking.
My boys breastfed for over a year and after that they couldn't even use a bottle properly and we switched straight to the spout type sippy cup. I used the Mam brand cup, but I'm not sure if they are available here. A good brand that is available here is the Gerber Color Change. However, there are a couple of things that you have to make sure for it to be leak proof:
1. When you put the lid on make sure that there is no liquid in the screw on treads as the cup will leak if there is water or milk trapped there.
2. When you have a cup with a no-leak valve that is inside the cup's lid you have to make sure that it is on properly and all the way pushed in.
3. If your baby drinks she has to suck really hard that something comes out. When she is done there is usually a bit of milk that made it past the valve but is still in the spout. That bit of milk will pour out when you turn the cup upside down. I think all sippy cups have this problem and I don't think that there is anything you can do about it.

I bought a sippy cup at Babies R Us that has several according to the child's age. It is 100% leakproof as long as it is assembled properly and the lid is screwed on well. It is insulated and was expensive, $7.00 for two of them, but I love it. Unfortunately, I cannot remember the brand name, but it was Playtex or Fisher Price or a common one like that.
My son was the same way. He NEVER liked bottles or pacifiers. He breastfed till almost 2 and had a lil cup with a straw at first. Now he's on the Gerber sippy cups. I like them because they don't leak and the spout is hard so I don't have to worry bout my lil guy biting it off in the middle of the night.
I used Nuby and they work great!
We have some of the Gerber cups with the handles and the softer spout. I've never had problems with them leaking. There's a valve that snaps into the lid. I like it because the valve comes totally out so I can wash it really good. Playex also has cups with removable valves and those work really well.
Straws get moldy. You just can't get them clean. I've seen mentioned that pipe cleaners work to clean out straw, but I've never tried it. I buy the Take N Toss straw cups and just use a regular bendy straw. It fits perfectly in the hole. When my daughter is done with it, I throw the straw away.
You're not really suppose to give kids anything to drink right before bed. The sugar in the milk sits on their teeth overnight and can cause their teeth to rot out. I would try to get her to go down with out milk. I would suggest to try water, if she'll take it.

I have tried a ton of sippy cups. My baby just hasn't really taken to any of them. She wants to bite on them, and shake them about to hear the liquid, but doesnt want to drink from them. Finially, yesterday I got one she has not been able to put down! YAY.
Its a NUBY, but its the small one with handles. We had tried the larger one with no handles, and that one leaked everywhere. If she continues with it this week, I am goin' back and getting her some more. =) Good Luck!
I was told by many speech pathologist to use the cups that look like travel mugs or straw cups and not the traditional sippy cups. Or if you do use a sippy with a soft top.
