Boys Pajamas

I am wondering if any of you can recommend where to buy some good boys pjs? We usually buy ours at target or walmart on sale but it seems they don't last long before getting "pilled" or "scratchy feeling". Alot of times the boys end up just sleeping in boxers and a muscle shirt but they do like to snuggle up in cozy jammies as well. Plus, when we have company over or movie nights with friends, jammies are obviously a must. Anyways, I would love some suggestions before I head out to buy a bunch of new ones! Oh- our boys are 6, 5 and 3. Thank you!

What can I do next?

Gymboree (they have a website. GOOD quality clothing/pj's)
Old Navy
Gap Kids (good quality, cotton).

this is where I get mine.
Never had a problem with it.
All of these stores have websites.

I actually buy long underwear as my son's (5) jammies now. I get them at target in the underwear section.

They come is a set (top and bottom) for less than the official pj sets typically. I get them in different colors and prints, so they're still fun, but they've really held up for us better than the pjs.

GAP polartech jammies are AWESOME. We buy a size big and they've lasted for 2 years so far (haven't handed them down yet, but they still look new, so we'll see how long they last after being handed down).

For flannel PJs we bite the bullet price wise and buy from Garnet Hill. At $30 EACH (top 30, bottom 30) we only buy the bottoms and kiddo either goes bare on top, or wears a jammie top from Gap. They've lasted 2 kids 4 years now (hand me downed).

For little kids/toddlers (my kiddo is 8.5 now... we've been buying from Garnet Hill & Gap since he was almost 5 -wearing boy's size 7/8s) I have to 2nd Carters.

We don't buy very many jammies. He gets a new pair on xmas eve, and a new pair when the weather turns warm. Because they last so long he has 5 pairs of jammies now (3 flannel bottoms, 2 polartech tops and bottoms)... and we often do "PJ Days" where he wears them all day. And they get washed after every wearing. So when I say that they are STURDY (and soft and still look new) I really mean it.

My boys love ones from Children's Place and Costco's Kirkland brand 100% cotton ones, my oldest is upset they no longer come in his size(he's a size 12 and they only go up to a 10). Children's Place has really good sales so the prices are really good. Costco are prices good all the time. I have pairs that have been through both boys and will still be fine for my daughter. My kids are 10,7 & 20 months. The oldest 2 are my boys.

Ha Ha...
Yeah.. I feel you. I go through this too and have for years... My son is way too old for the "cutie" PJ's... he's 12 now. But he still needs something to put on when he has a friend sleep over or he sleeps over somewhere else, or goes to some sort of camp or whatever. For winter, I just buy him PJ pants.. and let him sleep in a regular undershirt with it. But summer is worse... they just don't MAKE anything presentable in PJ's for boys older than about 5 or 6 yrs.

I have found some of the "pants" pj bottoms at Old Navy. And they don't look overly "little boyish". But only for winter, not anything for summer.
If you find something... let the rest of us know. :)

Friends bought me stuff from Carters for the boys when they were babies and they were soft and nice, but I don't know if it's just a baby store or not. I like The Children's Place (you can also shop online). Sometimes things are a bit pricey, but they have awesome sales. I got my oldest a cool swimsuit, sunglasses, and flip flops for the price of a Walmart swimsuit last year....and way cooler. The clothes last much better than any other place in my experience. It's the one place I'm guaranteed to be able to pass down clothes from my older to younger boys.

I have pretty much switched to that very thing. We get sweat pants in the Fall and Winter or flannel PJ bottoms then just toss on a simple tee shirt. In Winter if they're cold at night you can always get the long sleeved ones.

I did buy several pair at Walmart for Christmas fo about $4 each pair and have been pretty happy with them.

If you sew simple garments PJ bottoms basically have one seam in the leg then one seam from the back waist to the front waist, the one that goes under the groin. Then hemming and folding over the top and adding a draw string or elastic. It basically very simple sewing to make pj bottoms.

Our sons have several Carters pj's and it seems that the newer ones aren't as good of quality as the ones from a few years ago. He has had several pair that pill with in one or two washings and some from Walmart that haven't pilled yet after several washings. I think it's just hit or miss. The ones at Walmart that seem to be good so far, are their faded glory brands that come in a little cardboard box and they are really tight fitting jammies. We have bought both boys several pair and so far, no pilling at all and very soft jammies. They range from $2.50-$6.00 depending on sizes.

If there is a Carter's outlet close by, they have AWESOME PJ's and go up to a size 7! You can also check www.carters.com. I think they have about the same prices as the stores themselves do. We love their PJ's and never have had a problem with pilling.

My kids both loved thermal tops and bottoms for pajamas. They could wear socks or slippers.
You can get pretty good deals on them too.

That's what my kids liked, anyway.

Best wishes.

Try Lands End. I buy them for my girls and they last forever, never pil and the colors don't fade. You may be able to buy some in winter clearance right now. They may be a little more, like $25 a pair, but will last thru all of your boys. If you sign up online at www.landsend.com with your email address they will send you specials almost everyday. There is almost always free shipping on a $50 order.
