Brazilian Wax

I had my first brazilian and I love it! However, I just had it 3 days ago and already I seems to be getting pimples, which are most likely ingrown hairs. I am also seeing new hairs growing in. I thought I shouldn't have new growth for at least a couple weeks? Is the pimples/ingrown hairs so soon normal? What about the quick growth? Is this just normal cycle of hair growth? I have exfoliated every day with a loofah, exfoliant scrub and salicylic acid wash. I then put tea tree oil and lotion on after.

What can I do next?

The more you do it the less you'll notice the regrowth. It also depends on what you were doing about your bikini line before hand. It's likely that the hairs you see growing in now actually weren't there when you had it waxed so they are just coming in now. Either that or a few hairs may have broken off instead of being pulled out. You might just try plucking them as they come in over the next couple of days. You'll likely find they almost fall out when you tug them.

You might actually be doing too much to prevent bumps and causing some irritation. Gently scrubbing in the shower with a washcloth and then a soothing antibacterial ointment after should do the trick (tea tree oil is good, or just neosporin or a burn ointment with a pain reliever in it is good).

Good luck.

I get Brazilian waxing done about every 4-6 weeks so I can tell you from my experience that that all sounds pretty standard. The normal growth cycle of the the hair can make it difficult to get all of the hair out at once because as I understand, the follicles can produce hairs at different times. If I'm noticing extra little hairs after I get waxed, I pluck them with tweezers. Exfoliating is one of the best things you can do to prevent ingrowns but my esthetician recommends the exfoliating gloves not the loofah because the loofah can harbor bacteria whereas the gloves can be put in the washing machine. I use a product called Finipil which is an antimicrobial lotion that you apply daily after your shower (post-wax) to prevent those unsightly pimples because it banishes the bacteria in the open pores and it also helps to slow hair regrowth. In addition to the Finipil, I use Tend Skin in a spray bottle which helps with redness and skin irritation but it's alcohol based so it can sting a bit like aftershave and it also has aspirin in it so be aware of that if you have an aspirin allergy. It really does wonders for the redness though. Stone crop spray is really good for keeping the area moisturized and it reduces pigmentation/redness but it's kind of pricey so I don't buy that one too often. I'll add links below. When I first started waxing, I knew nothing of these products and struggled with ingrowns so I hope this info helps! :)

I buy these from my salon/spa but here are sites where you can purchase online. Sometimes you can get good deals on them from Amazon or EBay too.

The quick re-growth is pretty normal in my experience. I have been getting brazilians off and on for about 8 years, and whenever I start back up again, the re-growth comes back sooner than it does when I have kept it up for a while. After a few more, you will stay hair-free for longer and longer in between waxes. After a year of brazilians, I had to schedule appointments about two and a half months apart just to have enough regrowth to take off at the next appointment! The bumps and in-grown hairs are also fairly normal. Just keep exfoliating and don't over-moisturize. Those will minimize over time as well the more you do it.

I use bactine in the spray bottle. It works great to get rid of the bumps, and it has a little pain reliever in it as well.

This is normal. The more that you wax, the less noticeable it will be.
