Hi mommies! Well, I'm not sure if breasts should feel different when your breastfeeding, but it's been sort of worrying me! It's very hard to explain, but I'll try. When I lay down and feel my breasts, towards the base, they feel very lumpy. Where the bone is, it feels like masses? It seems more so now than it was. And at first I thought maybe I had serveral clogged milk ducts, but I tried everything and never got anything out. They're not painful at all. How should they feel when your breastfeeding? I'm just a little worried and not sure if I should be. Any advice would be wonderful. Thank you in advance ladies!!

I would have your doctor check it, but just know my breasts have been that way since BF my 1st child. Even at my annual OB/GYN visit this year, my doc commented on how bumpy I am at the base of my left breast.I've had a mammo & everything is fine, but it's nice to have that peace of mind.
Go to the doc to make sure, but seriously its most likely just all the swelling of the milk glands. Mine were pretty crazy while I nursed, hard spots, hot spots on occasion... it's just part of it.
get it checked out. at my 6 week gyno checkup, she noticed a lump in my breast. she immediately got me an appt for an ultrasound to see what the lump was. it turned out it was just a clog, a galactocele(?). it remained clogged for a long time, until bf slowed down to once or twice a day. the ultrasound was very fast. get it checked out for your peace of mind.
If you're concerned, you should see your doctor. They can get you in for an ultrasound to double check everything. I wouldn't wait because you never know. I just finished going through treatment for breast cancer. I was 35 when I was diagnosed and had ZERO family history of the disease, so I was shocked to find out I had cancer and that I had the gene for it as well. My son was 18 months old when I found the lump. I have a friend who was diagnosed while nursing her baby though, so you really should have it checked, just to be sure. They will be able to tell on ultrasound whether it is a mass or "fluid filled" (meaning a cyst or clogged duct). I wish you the best and I hope that it's just related to nursing.
Talk to your doctor. PLEASE! I found a lump when I was breastfeeding and was immediately sent for an ultrasound turned out it was a cyst but it was painful so I had it removed but you never know.
I remember my breasts feeling this way towards the base as well while I was nursing. I'm sure it's fine, but you probably won't be able to relax until you know for sure. If you have a concern, call your doctor.

Don't worry. Do something. I don't think that it is anything abnormal, but breast cancer does spike a bit while a woman breastfeeds. I say get it checked out and have some peace of mind.
Mind you, I have typing this from a hospital room where my husband is recovering from surgery from colon cancer. He waited a month before he checked on his problem. He knew it could be caused by so lmany things. He didn't see a doctor until he knew in his heart what the results would be. Caught a little earlier and he wouldn't have had to go throught major surgery.
PS. He has a clean bill of health now.
My boobs definitely felt lumpy when I was breastfeeding, and it was too painful to sleep on my chest that whole year. Get checked for your peace of mind, but it sounds normal.
Milk glands can feel very strange. I'm sure it's normal, but it you're really worried, I'd call your ob to check it out.
