So What Happened?

So I called the doctor and they said she's fine, a little gassy but since i had already changed my diet it's because my body has decided that a good meal isn't good enough instead i'm cooking up the entire buffet. lol Fast let down equals gass and pumping just makes it worse so burp burp burp......and yah the legg exercises have been working as well.....

Is she having a BM? She could be gassy if she isn't. You can always contact the dr and ask but as long as she isn't losing weight, she sounds fine. And since she's sleeping ok, I wouldn't worry too much. Kids, yes even babies, go through phases and you have to realize she is growing so she may be eating more at one sitting. Thus reducing the amount of times she feeds. Are you nursing or giving formula? Babies bodies do change unfortunately. My son, when he hit 6 weeks, had horrible gas and had colic. Unfortunately with us, we did not figure out his problem until he was about 3 months old and it ended up being he needed on Soy. Once he was on that, he did great and is still doing great. Now he eats like a horse!!!

My personal opinion is as long as she sleeps and is gaining weight fine and doesn't seem grumpy or in pain, she is ok. Now if starts getting colicky and is still gassed bad, then I would speak with the dr. If it completely worries you, you can always call the dr Monday. Remember they get paid good money to help you!!!

Good luck and Congrats!

My first son would go 5 days without a BM when he was breastfed. As long as it doesn't seem painful when she goes, she is fine.

Around rusted age our little guy had bowel movements one to two times a week. Go ahead answer give her doctor a call though to check and make sure it is okay for her. Phone call is easy and if nothing else it will give you peace of mind so you don't have to worry. I think the fewer bowel movements was when hw was growing usually and was using all the breast milk with no leftovers.

kellymom.com is a great resource. What might be happening is a bigger stomach and a change in your milk for an infant vs newborn. Not everyone has a daily bowl movement. I forget when DD stopped being a neverending poop machine and switched to about once a day or once every other day.

If you are really worried, shoot the doctor a message. Wouldn't hurt.

Welcome to mamapedia!!!

When breast feeding - your diet does affect your child as well. If you are eating gassy items - cauliflower, broccoli, beans, etc. that will make her more gassy.

Wet diapers are a good thing!! BMs? Sometimes they go from one or two a day to one or two a week. It's normal. IF she fussy and gassy - try laying her on her back and pumping her legs like a bicycle. If you are concerned about BMs...you can take her temperature rectally - that will stimulate her colon and cause a bowel movement. I would NOT do this every day. You want her body to do it on its own.

If you pump - you might also find you are producing more milk, therefore she's not needing as many feedings. If you have a baby scale - you can weigh her before you nurse her and after you nurse her - that will tell you how much you are producing and she is consuming.

It's normal to stop feeding 10 times a day when she isn't a newborn anymore. Her weight gain is above average, so unless she suddenly starts losing weight, I would not worry. They only thing that would concern me is the gas, try to figure out what's causing it - is she not active enough, is it something in your diet, etc? Good luck.
