Hi there,
Does anyone have a recommendation for a good breast feeding pillow?
Thanks so much!!!!!!!

Hi A.,
Looks like you've got LOTS of recommendations already. Can you try some different pillows out (friends')? I think different body types/babies make a difference. That Boppy that everyone loves just didn't work for me -- the little guy kept sliding down between it and me, making things pretty miserable. I ended up getting a My Brest Friend pillow after using it at a lactation consultant's office and really liking it. We're still using it almost a year later. I've also read good things about the Kushies breastfeeding pillow, and it's less expensive than either the Boppy or Brest Friend. Hope you find what works great for you! :)
I used my Boppy every day for 12 months, and hated being without it. COuldn't ever get regular pillow scrunched up right when we were travelling without my Boppy.

My Brest Friend. It's great...especially if you are smaller chested like me. Because it straps around your body, unlike the Boppy, you can raise the pillow up off your lap as high as you need it.
I haven't personally used it, but I just got an email from babysteals.com for a Bosom Baby. With this website they have one "steal" a day that is usually at least 50% off. If you were interested in getting this for the steal price you would have to order it today (8/14). Just go to babysteals.com and it explains a little bit more about the pillow. It is normally $58 and they are selling it for $29.
Hi A.!
My recommendation is for the "My Brest Friend" Nursing Pillow. I really like the features of this pillow. The Boppy is very popular, but I must say, from my experience, that I was not that pleased with it. The Pillow is rounded, so baby tends to either roll into or away from you. Also, it shifts a bit, I found it difficult to get it snug up against me for very long. It really seemed to be more trouble than help, so I really didn't use it much after those first few weeks.
I like the My Brest Friend pillow because it goes all the way around you, providing back support and that snugness that I really wanted. It also has a little pouch to keep a few things- Nipple Cream, chapstick, a bar, etc. And the plush material is heavenly!
I will be selling this nursing pillow in my store, but have not placed my first order yet. If you would like to try this pillow, I would be happy to order whichever design you would like. You would also be supporting a local business and SAHM.
If you are interested in that, please let me know! I will get the order placed asap. Until I have the information about the pillow on my site, you can read more about My Brest Friend at www.mybrestfriend.com

I just had my fourth child 7 months ago. I have nursed all the kids for about a year each, and only just got a Boppy when my youngest was a couple of months old. It's really nice ... but not the easiest thing to use when nursing. With all four of the kids, I've found that a regular old pillow works best and is the most comfortable for me and the baby. The Boppy has been great, though, as my little one is learning to sit!
You might check at TJMaxx or Ross ... I got mine at TJMaxx for about $20, and it came with a really nice velour cover.
The best for me is boppy brand! you can find out where to ____@____.com
I just love it!
I know it was not initially marketed as a breastfeeding pillow, and breastfeeding "experts" will not endorse it as such, but I, too, had a boppy and it was all I ever used. And when I didn't have it, I had to make do with pillows, etc. I loved it.
To be perfectly honest, any ol' pillow with work just fine.
I have used the boppy and like that because NO ONE has the excuse of "thinking" it was his or her own pillow--which aren't allowed out of their rooms, but an excuse is and excuse. Also, you can use it later when training the abdominal muscles for sitting up...when baby falls over it's onto one of those nice soft sides of the boppy rather than the floor.
I've had just as much success with a regular pillow though. In fact, I like to stack two pillows.
Nothing will be perfect and remember to be flexible with positions; you do not have to sit up everytime...use the laying down technique often, too, and be creative--so long as the baby can get his/her mouth around the nipple ANY thing goes.
Boppi's rock! ( although my youngest is 5 now and there may be something cooler on the market now!)
Boppy pillow is WONDERFUL!!! When I nursed my daughter I used one and really loved it. As they get a little older, the same pillow can be used for 'tummy time' as well as propping them up. It really has several uses. A reference was made that they are pricey but I got mine new for $25.00. It was a simple green cover. Now, once you start getting into the fancy covers, they do get pricey!
Good luck, you'll love it!
Boppy pillow all the way! They are great because they curve right to your body and give you and the baby great support. I even had a c-section and it didn't bother my incision at all. So I would get a Boppy they are the best.
I loved the Brest Friend. I am done with it however. I would be willing to part with it for $10. It is navy/denim with white stars. It worked wonders!
I know some others already said this, but I'll say it too. Lucky for me I didn't purchase my boppy. My sister gave it to me because it was the wrong color for her second baby (I know it isn't a big deal, but she wanted a matching one for the room). Anyway, I hated it from the start. I tried using it a few times, but a regular bed pillow worked better. I would come back to it every few weeks from pressure from my partner to try using it. Still, I never liked it. Mostly I just held my son when I fed him. It was so much easier than anything else. Good luck!
Hello,
When I nursed my son I used a boppy pillow and loved it. Using it just made things so much easier. They are quite pricey but I lucked out and found mine at a second hand store wich carries gently used baby stuff.
Hope this helps.

2nd on the bobby pillow. I have seen several at garage sells, second hand stores or try craigslist too. You can also buy different covers for them. They are great when they are older and need "tummy time",
I've had two. One was a hand-me-down from my sister. I don't know what brand. It was fine. It didn't curve around me, it was basically a rectangle with a little rounded part cut out where it fit up against my stomach. I think it was probably some generic, inexpensive one. I liked it just fine (probably better than a boppy) except that it didn't have a removable cover, so spit up and everything else eventually made it rather gross. My first son loved to sleep propped up on it when he had a tummy ache.
So I bought a Boppy for $2 at a thrift store. I loved the removable cover, but it wasn't as comfortable. I guess I'm not the narrowest of women (I like to say I'm from tough, pioneer stock), but I'm not real overweight. But it didn't fit me very well. It seemed to have a permanent crease in the middle where it was stretching to fit me. On the other hand, my son loved to cuddle in it from day one. He used it as a body pillow. And he used it to sit in when he was a little older. But he couldn't really lay across it like my oldest son did on the other pillow for a tummy ache.
I heard from a few people that the Comfort U maternity pillow combined with the boppy worked the best for bedroom feeding and lower back comfort and support. I am looking for the Comfort U on sale for my next one!

I totally love my Boppy. I'm on baby #3 with it. Check with the hospital your delivering at. They probably have a variety. You can try them out after baby comes and then purchase the one you liked the best. That or check with friends and borrow theirs for the same purpose. I tried a friends Breast Friend pillow and hated it, but she totally loved it and didn't like the Boppy. It's a very personal decision.
I used a Boppy with my first 3 and then I got a My breast friend. I loved My Breast Friend and was very glad I switched. I always felt like I had to bend over for the Boppy and I usually ended up putting a pillow under the it. My Breast Friend was a better height, plus it hooks all the way around you which is nice if you need to get up and move around with the baby.
After reading comments on the internet about nursing pillow, I choice My Best Friend Deluxe Feeding and Nurising Pillow over Boppy Pillow. This one gives you back support. It does not move around. With the pillow, there is no pressure on my arm / elbow to lift the baby up. My baby is 5 months old. I still use it.
I am a big fan of the Boppy. I used it with both my kids. You can get ones that have a removable cover for washing. They also work great for propping the baby up when they are playing on the floor.
I really loved the Boppy.
I love my boppy, but it did take a whole to get used to.
A BOPPY pillow! It is great for brest feeding and also helps when they are ready to sit up! I love it!
I got a boppy with my first, and never used it for nursing. It was never comfortable. When first getting used to nursing and at night, I would fold over a long body pillow. I did use the boppy a little when she was first sitting up. With my son, I did not use it at all. In fact, I used no pillow with him. I guess if you don't get one for a gift, I would save the money!

I saw a really good one at a store in Denver (Cherry Creek North) called "Apothecary Tinctura". It had a new revolutionary shape. You can go to their website and call and ask.
I bought a Boppy pillow because everyone said I just HAD to have one. I hated the thing. It was NOT the least bit comfortable to use and my daughter nursed a lot better using just a regular cheap bed pillow as a cushion. The only time I ended up using it was when she got a little older I would prop her up on it before she was able to sit up on her own. Sorry to be contrary to the Boppy lovers out there, but it ended up being a total waste of my money! Good luck!
HI A.,
I used the "Boppy" it worked great for me. I bought a cover for it with my second one and that helped keep the pillow itself a bit cleaner. Anyway, I found you could also use "Boppy" to keep baby on the couch (before roll stage) and various other uses. God Bless!
I wasn't a huge fan of the Boppy, just like some other posters. I really liked the Boppy Cuddle Pillow... purchased it while pregnant to help me sleep more comfortably and it turned out it works great for nursing, too!
But I mostly just use a variety of small pillows. I think it's such a personal thing and you'll probably find that your pillow needs change as your baby grows. My best recommendation is to get a good variety of small pillows... different sizes, different degrees of firmness. Then you can try out different combinations & find something that's *perfect* for you & your baby... even when perfect changes to *new* perfect. ;)
Best of luck!
I had a hard time nursing at first. I got the My Brest Friend pillow and it's great- it really helped. It snaps around your waist so you can change the height. I tried the boppy and regular pillows at first and they were alright but the My brest friend pillow made a huge dfference. Absolutely worth the money. You can get one locally at becoming mothers or online at target.com or amazon.
I used the George brand pillow. Very simalar to the Boppy but it comes with a cover and is way less expesive than the Boppy. You can find the George pillow at walmart for about $20. It has so many uses. I had my son sleeping on it for about a month when he was a few months old because he had a cold and slept better when he was elevated. and you can strap him in to the pillow so he wouldnt wiggle off. we used it for tummy time. I used it to put behind him when he was learning how to sit up. And of course I use it for breast feeding. I've never had the Boppy brand pillow but from others that I know who have the Boppy and switched to the george pillow I hear the george pillow is softer than the boppy. I'm really happy with it. And as my son grows I'm sure I'll find more uses for it.
Boppys. I loved them. I got 2 (one for upstairs and one for the basement) and it was worth it. Used them as nursing pillow for almost 2 yrs.
Hi A.,
I have a Boppy Pillow and absolutely LOVE it!! I bought one for upstairs and one for downstairs. It sits nicely around my waist for when I feed my son. I don't just use it for breastfeeding but also for when my arms get tired of holding him I sit on the couch with the boppy and him laying on top of it. The great thing too is that you can buy additional slipcovers in cool designs. The slipcovers are easy to remove and wash. It has been one of my most favorite things since our baby was born.
My first baby was tiny, and never did get really heavy so I never used one with her. But my son on the other hand is a tank. He loves to nurse all the time, and he is really hard on my back to hold him, so I do use a boppy with him.
