Breast Milk - Buffalo Grove, IL

Hello, mothers! I am currently breast feeding my 10 week old son. I have extra milk that I've been saving in the freezer since March 1, and because you can save it only for 3 month I will be disposing of parts of it Beginning June 1st. Its a pity, because apparently my milk is good, my baby is growing very well, healthy and happy. So if anyone needs at least one week supply of breast milk (free), please let me know I would be happy to share (and will continue, if I won't need it myself).
Hope everyone stays well in this time of viruses. Have a lovely day everyone!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Hello Mothers!
Thank you all so much for your help. I've decided to purchase a deep freezer and keep my milk for my son for the future. Thank you all again for saving it for my Baby :-)

I was in the similar situation and was told by multiple people as well as lacation consults that the milk is not bad. Even after the time frame of 6 months to one year it is that the milk starts to lose nutrients vs actually going bad. As far as milk banks goes you have to give them fresh milk as they need to pasturize the milk which they can not do if it has been frozen. My daughter is 15 months and I have stopped breast feeding but she is still getting my frozen milk from the freezer and is fine. The milk is 7 months old. I have a separate freezer in the garage. I had a lot of milk (LOL) and could not just throw it away. Good luck

Why don't you use a bottle of frozen once a day so your own production slows down a little? I can'r see any moms taking milk without it being tested since they don't know you from adam. You're probably a loving and giving person only looking to help but in this day and age, everyone is leary and it's a shame but true.

I second that your milk is still good. If you're at all concerned, why not use that and freeze some of the fresh stuff? That way you will always have a nice freezer supply.

I am nursing evening, morning and night for my 5.5 month old and pumping at work for his daycare bottles. I had an oversupply and have like 250 bags of 6 oz each -- was forced to buy a zero degree deep freezer as well. My suggestion is to rotate your milk supply...use one frozen and the other fresh bottles while you are at work and then freeze one of the bottles you pump so you are taking out an old and putting in a new one daily. That will keep the milk freshest and still make sure he is getting mostly new milk. Congrats on all the stockpile! It is a great thing to have and you are very fortunate.

Hi, you don't need to throw it out it's still good for up to 6 months in a freezer 12 months in a deep freezer.
