Breast Milk on Flight - Without Infant

My husband and I are going on an anniversary trip this Christmas and will be leaving my little ones at home. The littlest is no longer nursing (not interested) but I am pumping and feeding her only breastmilk. I'm obviously going to have to pump while we are on our trip but I don't know how/if I can bring the milk back with me. It seems a waste to pump for 4 days and not get to save any of it BUT I also don't want to save it and then have to throw it all away at the airport! Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

What can I do next?

I know it's painful to let that milk go, but you could always consider donating it locally while you are on vacation. I had an overabundant supply so I donated to an individual thru a group called milkshare dot com. There are plenty of babies out there (adopted or otherwise) whose mothers can't provide them with breastmilk but who cannot tolerate formula. You'd be doing a great service and wouldn't have to fool with getting the milk back on the plane. Most mommies are willing to come to you for it. It is probably worth checking out anyway . . . . Good luck!

I would call the airline and ask. I've taken milk and juice before, but my son was with me and it was for in flight. Ask if there is another way you can transport it if you can't take it carry on.

How about freezing it and then putting it in a small cooler bag with ice packs and checking it. They don't allow dry ice.

I would call the airlines and ask them what their regulations are. But I have read that they make exceptions for breast milk...they might be able to let you take it as a cary on in a cooler.
