Breast Pain; Coming off Pill

It's been a long time since I haven't been pregnant/nursing/on birth control pills, so I'm not sure what's normal anymore. In preparation to start trying for another baby, I stopped taking the pill last month and just had my period (June 27-29). I am had major PMS symptoms before hand (breast tenderness/swelling, bloating, cramps, rage!). Now, I am still having these weird shooting pains through my breasts/toward the nipple. They are not excruciating or anything, but they are happening every couple hours for a few days now. Is this normal? I am assuming it is just my hormones leveling out but I can't remember feeling anything like this before, esp. after a period is over. Thanks for any advice/experiences!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for your responses. My period was lighter than usual so I did take a pg test and it was negative. I am not worried... just going to keep track of it on paper so I can see if there's a pattern. I am just chalking it up to hormones leveling out after being on the pill. Thanks again!

Hi Michelle,

I am glad you are having a better time of it . I can help you with the rage of PMS.Take magnesium everyday. Within half an hour of taking magnesium or eating a handful of almonds, the PMS should go away. My Ob/gyn doc told me about that years ago. It really works.

If it's abnormal from what you're accustomed to feeling, I'd always recommend speaking with your OB/GYN to get their opinion.

In my case, anytime there's been a concern with breast health, they've quickly had me into the office for an exam and an ultrasound to be certain there isn't something microscopic to be concerned with.

Don't ever assume anything. If you're instincts are telling you to seek medical advice, do it. I had a swollen lymph node in a suspicious location. All bloodwork, ultrasounds, etc. came back benign. Biopsy came back malignant, and I went through 5 months of chemo for something most physicians thought was postpartum hormone related.

Good luck! Hoping it's nothing.

I myself noticed my breast were more sensitive when I was off of the pill. I think it is the hormones leveling out in the body. I stopped the pill and now am doing an IUD and I felt pretty funky with cramps, breast pains and twinges in my ovaries. It seems to have leveled itself out. Good luck

This is SOOOOOO weird.

I have been having a similar pain in my breast for about a month or so now. I just got to really worrying about it last night, and told my fiance about it. Of course, I am thinking breast cancer, because I take my worries to the worst level, like 0 to 60. I know I need to get this checked to preserve my sanity... but in the meantine, I had just logged onto this site to post a question about my situation, more specifically how I am terrified I'm going to die and leave my son alone. UGH.

I am on bc pills, so I don't know if that's causing anything. My pain is kind of under my left breast, just a twinge of a pain, certainly nothing really bothersome, just enough to be noticeable, and it does kind of seem to twinge toward my nipple. Otherwise, I don't have any breast pain related to menstural cycles, etc., just this odd little nuisance of a pain, just enough to send me into a worrying frenzy.

Also wondering what this could be... waiting for a call back from my doctor to schedule an appt.
