Just my opinion, but breastmilk is where all her nutrients are really coming from at this point. I would rather my baby have more of that than baby food.
I am still breastfeeding my daughter and offering 3 meals a day of baby food. My husband and I are disagreeing about how much breastmilk I feed her.
Currently I feed her first thing in the morning, 11 AM, when she wakes up from her nap (3ish), 5:30 and bedtime. He is concerned that she isn't hungry for her dinner (around 6PM) so yesterday I breastfed her at 4 and then fed her her dinner (she was very hungry and ate a lot) and then at bedtime. I'm wondering if this is ok. I know that breastmilk is good for her and I don't want to deny her that. I'm thinking that if she only eats a little baby food at dinnertime it is ok my husband is not so sure. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Breastmilk is the perfect food at any age. Your milk is changing as your baby grows to give her exactly what she needs. Solids are just for fun at this age, and really for a long time now. It doesn't matter how much she is nursing... nurse on demand and she will get what she needs. :))
I am still nursing my (19 months old today!) son and he plays around with solids but still gets most of his nutrition from breastmilk. And he is 34 inches tall and weighs 29 lbs! So I don't think he is missing out on anything because he's getting mostly breastmilk. You are doing what nature intended. Keep it up, you smart mama!
Remember that breastmilk is the most important source of nutrients your girl is getting right now. Food is important too, but secondary. My daughter is just a little older than yours (11 months) and on the weekends when I'm home with her I feed her around a similar schedule - upon waking, around 11, around 3, bedtime, and we still have one 4:00 AM meal.
IMHO your girl will eat when she's hungry. There's no reason to push it for now. As she grows she will nurse AND eat lots of food, and as her life gets busier she will "forget" about nursing sometimes until it's quiet and bedtime.
She will taper off her breastmilk consumption over the next few months and in my experience, once they're about 15 or 16 months old they only nurse morning and evening. It depends on the kid, of course, and on your routine too. Most kids will self-wean around age 2-3; I nurse my son until he was 20 months and then I was really done (and 5 months pregnant!) and he was ok with that too.
Keep it up - you're doing great!!
keep on breastfeeding -- it is more critical than the solids. I dont even really feed my kids much solid food till they're a year. Your body is made to fill in the gaps nutritionally. Regular food obviously cannot do that.
M.,
Good for you to continue nursing at 10 months! I know it gets more difficult the older the baby gets. Breastmilk or formula should be the main source of a baby's nutrition at this age. It's okay if she doesn't want as much solid food.
Talk to your pediatrician if you're concerned, but it sounds like your baby is getting all the nourishment she needs.
I do agree with everyone else... keep BF as much as possible. Some days my DD nurses more and some days less. Some days my DD seems to eat more baby food and other days she doesn't seem to eat that much so keep doing what you are doing. Nursing and baby food the way you are doing it is A O K! :)
As long as her weight is going up.. either should be okay. I was told to back off some with the milk with my 9 month old and give him more protein. (I am still nursing him) He is 20 lbs and 28 inches long. His weight is good, but a little lower than the track he had been on. We let him eat his food first then give him the bottle. I have noticed that his milk intake has lessend just a litte. Good luck and congratulations.
At 10 months, breastmilk or formula should still be the primary source of nutrition.
My 9 month old nurses on that schedule more or less. He tends to nurse after dinner vs prior to though. He eats dinner at 530 or 6 and then nurses at 7. Still seems to eat quite a bit. The other thing I do personally is add expressed milk to his cereals, potatoes and sweet potatoes. then if he is having a low nursing day, he is still getting the milk...
Breastmilk comes first at this age. Baby food secondary. You are doing fine.
